Last year, I lost 30lbs over 7 months. :)

I started alternating between weights and cardio but had to stop the cardio because my left knee started hurting (started doing treadmills indoors after it got cold).

Well I want to get back to cardio and would like to use an elliptical due to its low impact and ease to my knees.

Can anyone suggest a good elliptical for under $400?

I'm not sure exactly what makes one elliptical better than another.

I've found one on sale at Sears for around $400

but I am open to other suggestions!

Thanks everyone.

My family has a nordictrak from sears. Shoddy build quality. Spent tons on repairs.

for $400, you can join 24 hour fitness for 8 months at their full price ($50 a month) but nobody should ever have to pay it. Odds are there's a cheaper, smaller gym local to you that you can go to for $15 a month or less.

Or you can do the 3 years at 24 up front, pay $700, then get each additional year for $50. (my girlfriend's brother just got this deal at $550 for the first 3 years)

What I'm saying is, inexpensive, quality exercise equipment may not exist. (I know for one thing i'm never buying nordictrak again) Cheap equipment is probably cheap because it's crappy. I recommend joining a gym if you want the workout equipment.

The Weslo 620 has a stride length listed of only 13". Is that comfortable?
