So, do you guys know a good place to eat? I probably want to go to Chinatown and eat cheap food for lunch and then blow all my per diem on dinner.

Anyone been to Nobu or Next door Nobu? good place?

I work diagnally across from waldorf astoria. if you really want cheap food, you don't have to go to chinatown... there are "food trucks" at the corners of all the i-banks around here that sell full lunches for 5 bucks :)

otherwise... chinatown or k-town are sure bets.

if they're big meat-eaters, you can send them to http://churrascariaplataforma.com/ on the west side in the 40's.

it's a brazillian bbq. there's a "salad" bar there which is all you can eat that features sushi and pasta dishes and lots of other foods. when you're through with that, waiters come around with skewers of different, freshly-cooked meats and you let the waiter know if you'd like some, then he cuts off a piece for you. you can do this for as long as you want.

I ate there last week while on a business trip with a coworker. Too stuffy inside and too damn expensive. Not a place for people unless their in a large group. Also, dessert is extra.

Yah, they have a frozen hot chocolate dessert that is pretty good. But it's always got a crazy wait (mobbed, mostly by tourists). If you do want to wait, Dylan's Candy Bar is right on the next corner. It's got just about every mass produced candy known to man. Nice place to kill an hour or so while waiting. Of course, if you start eating the candy, you won't care if you ever get into Serendipity's. :p

Don't go there, that place sucks. The vegetables are disgusting. The rice is cooked with too much water, and their 4 small scraps of chicken has too much of the disgusting sauce on it.

I went to the one in Tribeca. It wasn't bad but the dinner is more of a business meeting so it won't be the right venue.

Went with Sushi Yasuda instead.

I think I booked the wrong hotel. When I was told that we have a deal with Waldorf. I booked the rooms at Astoria, turns out the office is probably near the Waldorf Towers. blah.

if you make reservations, it's easier to get in. it's a nice restaurant, just crowded because of that movie.

yea, chickalicious is a lot better. serendipity's desserts aren't that great, its just a lot of chocolate.

:tear;

Threads like this remind me that no matter how many times I go into NYC and try a new restaurant, I'm never going to be able to cover even 1/5th of all the great places to eat in the city.

Surprisingly, all my favorite restaurants aren't even in Manhattan, but rather in Queens. (exceptions being Mahmoun's and Gray's Papaya)

i've been to the ones in MD, not in Balitmore. obviously i haven't tried everything in the world, but in the region of NYC i haven't had any better.
