Best place to buy a Canon PowerShot A60 or A70 would be Dell.com during one of their promo's.

If you buy the Oly C-720 get it from OfficeMax.com they have a $50 off $250 coupon.

Have you tried the A60/A70? Why do you say Canon >> Olympus?
I hope it is not based on reviews.
I have tried both and the C720 >> A60/A70.

Yes it uses SM but just get more cards then. The C730 and up uses their new xD (??) card.

A40 - old discontinued model
A60 - newer model replaces the A40
A70 - same as A60 but 3.2MP and some other minor changes

Get the A40 or A60

why would you recommend a60 over a70? is the difference in price/features not worth it?

I say if you can get the a70 for $250 or less, then get that. Of course I could be wrong.

I'm very interested in an olympus C-720/C-730. I take a lot of pix that require zoom and my DC280 ain't cutting the mustard.

I was ready to buy one, but I hear there are some concerns with the picture quality?

Can some of you with C-720/730 post some pics?

This is the first macro-ish shot I took with the Oly C720 without even reading the manual: hibiscus Note that the pic has been reduced in size for bandwidth consideration.

Thanks! That is a great pic. I heard rumblings of purplish accents from the C-720, but evidently this is not the case!

Gots ta get me one now! :D:

The purplish fringing tends to occur in high optical zoom digicams when you have a dark subject on a bright background (For example, a building against a sunny sky). The Oly C720 does have this problem, but I can live with it :)

Those who say the picture quality is bad are just crappy photografers.
Here are some pics taken with 5 - 8x zoom holding the camera in my hand. Note that a Top-Fuel / Funny Car reaches 100+ mph in about a second or two.

Top Fuel start. See the green light?

Those pictures were taken with 1/640 to 1/800 shutter time. The key to good pictures with long zoom and no tripod.
Are those pics of bad quality? ;)
