I immigrated to Canada from England in '82. I love Canada, but there's just some things I will always miss; certain foods, in particular. The one food I've never been able to buy here are Kellogg's Coco Pops, a.k.a. (to you Yanks) as Cocoa Rice Krispies.

I return home every couple of years, and when I do I gorge on foods unavailable to me in Canada (like good chocolate and crisps). However, I recently discovered that Coco Pops (Cocoa Krispies) sell in the States. When my GF mentioned she was going to spend five days with her family in Cape Cod I made sure she hunt down a box.

THIS IS WHAT SHE BROUGHT BACK!

OK, not too exciting from your POV, but I was stoked.

I've had four bowls already today, but I have to admit they're not as good as the stuff you get in the UK. Still, I get my chocolate fix!

weird US names!

(never heard of any of this stuff) cocoa puffs maybe, but have never heard of coco pops......

Yes! And I kid you not, my mother makes the best in the world. I've told her she could sell them commercially.

They don't sell Cocoa Krispies in Canada? So they really ARE savages up there! I thought that was just rumor and hearsay...

some UK chocolates are really good but are a huge PITA to find in the states. if youre fortunate you can locate some stores in the US that import stuff from the UK....

thats how i was able to purchase McVitie's Jaffa Cakes. mmmmmmmm delisis

We have a shop here in town that sells loads of UK chocolate and sweets, but it's expensive.

Oh, and Decartes, I'm not sure if you're aware, but pasties are pronounced past-ees. Paste-ees are the things stippers wear on their nipples.

No, Cocoa Pebbles are similar, but not quite the same as Cocoa Krispies. Coco-Puffs are spherical. Three different cerials.

No, no... Cocoa Pebbles are flat, whereas Cocoa Krispies are still in the shape of a rice grain, only puffed up.

I've had coco pops whenever I go to europe. I absolutely love them, I even eat them without milk :)

Talk about cereal, the one thing I wish I could get in Canada is "Total" :( I have to settle for "Vector" instead.

I've never had Total but it sounds healthier or some crap.

no coco krispies are the SAME EXACT SHAPE AS coco pebbles


coco PUFFS are the round (sphericial) ones
