Last year I was tagging a 40ish cougar and she mentioned she had a daughter a few years younger than me. Naturally, I assumed she was going to be hot, but she showed me a picture and she was a giant bull-dike.

I was saddened.

My old boss dated Goldie Hawn. Kate Hudson could have been his daughter. He's 6'6" and was a div 1 basketball player in college and played on in the minors for the old Washington Senators.

This only applies if the daughter takes after her mom.

Some kids look like the father, some like the mother.
This, my wife still has all of her dad's physical traits, thankfully. I love my Mom in-law, but people used to tell me that women grew up to look like their moms and I'd look at her and be like D:.

Like the article said, it probably has more to do with eating habits (nurture) rather than genetics (nature).

So, if one tries hard enough they can change their habits.

I agree to some extent (as far as overall weight/muscle mass is concerned), but IMO it doesn't work for hips and height though. I've seen people who's moms are in shape, but they have giant (baby makin' :D) hips, and their daughters do too. The same with height, sometimes you are tall or short because a parent is. You can't really diet to lose height or hip structure.

[edit] Hehe, article is talking about "weight" specifically, I need to L2RB4 posting

mosh, you should really stop visiting the DailyMail website so much.
It's hardly a beacon of journalistic integrity, balance, or worthwhile stories.
Lonyo, you should really stop visiting my threads so much.

You aren't adding anything to a thread that is worthwhile enough to be moving along just fine despite your concern.

Since no one else has volunteered, I think my wife will do just fine if we're going by her mom.

The article points out that it's your portion control that makes the difference most of all, which they think is genetic. How quickly your body tells lets you know your full determines your weight (generally).

Most of the evidence suggests it is to do with your appetite – its turning off and on – rather than metabolism or your choice of food.

It seems to affect how effective your stop mechanisms are when you have had enough to eat. The effect is very small but gradually you gain weight.

Most parents at first believe that it is the way they bring up a child but when they have a second they realize it is in the genes. They are struck by the differences between their children.
