Eh.. it's almost an epidemic in the church. Many of the kids who are saving themself for marriage get this idea they are saving themselves for some perfect mate God has waiting for them. True or not, their expectations of a perfect mate leave them dismissing every possible partner they come across because they don't fit some perfect mold they've created for themselves. When the entire point is that God is supposed to know you better than you know yourself and he'll put your mate in your life when you are ready, the idea of waiting for someone who fits a mold YOU created, leaves people with no choice but to dismiss every person they meet.
This, exactly. I spent the first 22 years of my life this way. I dated a bit, sure, but I was extremely picky and expected perfection from everyone. I wasn't happy because I couldn't find that "perfect person."
Fuck religion, and its rules. No longer do I go into a conversation pre-judging everyone I meet, dating itself is just less stressful now. Best thing I ever did was denouncing the god of an old book written by anonymous sheep-herders.
