Here's a minor inconvenience.
Lock Screen > Swipe right (regardless of where on the screen) to unlock = Phone Dialer
Lock Screen > Swipe left (regardless of where on the screen) to unlock = Camera
Lock Screen > Swipe up to unlock = Unlock
Lock Screen > Swipe down to unlock = Expand Notifications

I'm just used to swiping anything, anywhere on 4.4.4 and unlocking

I agree. I used the swipe pattern lock. When pressing the unlock button, the pattern would show right away. Now you have to swipe up a bit, then the pattern appears. The good news is you don't need to swipe up from the very bottom and you don't need to swipe up very much. I got used to it now. Still annoying though.

Other annoyances.... Holding down the lock/power button would give you an easy way to vibrate/silence speaker/airplane mode. Now it just shows 'power down.' An alternate method is to use the volume down button. At least that works even from the lock screen.

Other than that, I'm liking what I see so far. It's honestly not a big update over KitKat to merit the 5.0 numbering, but oh well.

That new way to transfer all apps and logins during setup via NFC is pretty convenient. Just did a fresh install on my nexus 7 and it's installing everything for me.

Report back in if all of your data for your games and apps sync.

What do you all think about chrome merging tabs in with the app switcher? I like the idea in theory but still would have rather had the tab menu inside of chrome still. It's nice to be able to go directly to an open tab from another app, but it seems like the old way was easier to switch between tabs while actually in chrome.

Hm, I'm not seeing that myself. My chrome just shows as chrome in the task switcher.

Edit: Found out tablets don't do that

You can swipe down from the lockscreen to access the quick control panel.

It's an extra swipe but at least it's accessible from the lockscreen.

You're so wrong.

Just because visual polish is all you're noticing, does not mean that 5.0 is "not a big update."

New runtime, for one. That right there warrants the leap to 5.0. 5000+ new API's. Security overhauls including the ability to segregate work and personal data.

It is a massive update. The fact that you're barely noticing the fact is actually a good thing. But it still shows your ignorance on the matter.

Screen pinning is awesome! I have a 2 year old and I always wanted that!
Yeah, this used to require third party applications. Both Android and iOS have needed this for years IMO. I'm surprised it wasn't included much earlier.

Since iOS doesn't have it built in, and Android does now, I will be handing my 2012 Nexus 7 over to my toddler for Curious George videos instead of my iPad 2. I've been doing that anyway though, since the iPad 2 is a better web surfer for adults.

sideloaded the update.zip on Nexus 7 2013 - it's nice not to have to wait for the OTA. Not android's fault, within WIN8 i had to reboot to disable device signing and it totally borked and wont let me boot into WIN8.

Another oddity. Nexus 5, either the lock screen or pull down notifications, profile picture is generic avatar. Nexus 7, G+ or profile picture.

For those using Reddit, apparently there's an API issue with Youtube that will crash, i use Reddit Sync. Best MD reddit app. Reddit News went overboard with the flyout animations vs Reddit Sync went with ripples.

Phones, Chrome tabs in Recents, i'll probably switch to the old style. When i'm in chrome, i usually open a few links to read and it's easier to swipe down in the chrome than hit the recents.

Tablet, Chrome .. hate the tabs, wish there was something similar to the phone version.

btw, Lolipop is really smooth and fast on N5, N7, if the reports about lag on N9 - it's gonna be either optimizations needed or the K1 processor isn't as good as they say.

Did you read the article? They said app loads were "tenths of a second" slower. Their conclusion is that it didn't improve the Nexus 7, but it didn't ruin it either.

You didn't read my post? I said it was a bit worse. I didn't say it was hugely worse. But the first part of my post is still true, which is that performance sucks, since it already sucked in KitKat 4.4.

Also, while half a second to 1 second delays in app launching isn't a deal killer, it can be noticeable.

However, the article also states it takes 20 seconds longer to launch, which is an increase of 43% over the previous 46 second launch time.

Performance on the 2012 Nexus 7 still sucks. In fact, it's a bit worse in 5.0 Lollipop.

Uh... did YOU read the article?

As for performance, the bad news is that things are a little slower, but the good news is that the differences are usually pretty tiny.

So, the performance that was already poor got worse. Just because "most people won't notice" doesn't mean it's not worse. What Eug said is correct and confirmed by the article, I don't know why you'd argue otherwise.

Wow... someone's feelings got hurt.

It's feel that strong about a free software update, it's time to get some sun and fun.

I just don't like it when people talk about things they are completely clueless about. It's a pet peeve, it has nothing to do with how I feel about Android.

Nice assumption on your part, though.
