anything that shows improvement on either of the following points?
1 - When holding down the power button, KitKat shows the following options:
power down / vibrate / mute / aeroplane mode / normal volume. 5.0 on my N5 cut those options down to one, 'power down'. The former was quick and handy.
On 5.01. I've seen 5.02 on a tablet. There is no 'improvement.' I ended up getting used to it's alternative which is arguably better in my situation. I primarily used the power button hold down to put my phone on vibrate before going into the office.
I used to pull the phone out, unlock, hold down the unlock then tap 'vibrate'. But now I got used to pressing the unlock button then holding down the volume button until it vibrates. At least with that method I never have to pull my phone out of my pocket since you need to see the screen to tap 'vibrate'.
Someone else also pointed out that you can quickly mute by pressing the icon on the left of the volume to switch between modes. One I got used to both ways, I never missed Android 5 removing it from the power button.
