I'm not the biggest fan of Lync but that seems pretty weak. If archival use is needed, e-mail is far better for that.

Even better, Lync integrates with Exchange. When a conversation is closed out (or after a preset time of idleness in the conversation window), Lync sends the archive to Exchange. You can then go into Outlook and search the chat archive just like you do emails.

Lync is decent, nothing amazing, gets the job done.

Now if I can just get my Italian colleagues to stop calling it lynch (verbal).

"we're going to have a lynch meeting!"
"I'll lynch you after 11"

Uhh... Guys... STOP THAT.

I have yet to see anything that integrates as well as Lync/Exchange in our Unified Communications setup, but I'm all ears on new things to try.

We use it for chat, email, VOIP integration, internal and external meetings, and small file transfers.

best workplace ever.

I occasionally cuss in front of customers! Even in meetings? Shocking right?

I think it's very odd that being a socializing adult is something that is feared. Oh shit. I remember now, you're that guy from Canada.

Nevermind. Carry on.

Sounds like you have an install problem. Our Lync 2013 doesn't use close to that. 170MB average. Less than Chrome.
