I'm not the biggest fan of Lync but that seems pretty weak. If archival use is needed, e-mail is far better for that.
Even better, Lync integrates with Exchange. When a conversation is closed out (or after a preset time of idleness in the conversation window), Lync sends the archive to Exchange. You can then go into Outlook and search the chat archive just like you do emails.
Lync is decent, nothing amazing, gets the job done.
Now if I can just get my Italian colleagues to stop calling it lynch (verbal).
"we're going to have a lynch meeting!"
"I'll lynch you after 11"
Uhh... Guys... STOP THAT.
Lync bogs down my computer so I shut it down. I have enough ways for people to waste my time; I don't need a chat program.Lost credibility when OP said Lync is terrible.
Depends who you're talking to.
If you're talking to a fellow coworker, yes. If you're talking to a Senior Manager / Partner.... No. Shut your whore mouth with statements like that.
Why is Lync terrible? just makes you sound cool to say?

That's not much of a comparison. GTA V will probably use less RAM than Chrome.Sounds like you have an install problem. Our Lync 2013 doesn't use close to that. 170MB average. Less than Chrome.
