It's not fake. I just registered on FuelSlut.com's forums and checked around. They have more pics vids and first hand accounts of people who've rode the ped.

I've seen it before .. and it's been posted on other forums..

and confirmed fake.

No offense, but just you saying it and stating that other people say it's fake does not convice anyone. Unless you can explain how it's faked.

On second thought, offense intended.

Confirmed by who?

A moped with Naws? How much confirmation do you need?

You could outfit any engine with NOS. It isn't a stretch at all.

LOL!

Okay, people. That is a GoPed, not a moped.

And there is no way in fsck that video is real. OMG! LOL... It sure is funny.

As a motorized scooter enthusiast(GoPed is a brand), and owner of a highly modified Mosquito Hawk, I can tell you that there is NO WAY that a scooter could beat a car like that. LOL! It's laughable. C'mon people, they've got one gear, and go about 25MPH stock, 35+MPH with heavy modifications. It is VERY hard to get a motorized vehicle with a single gear to go 40+ without some SERIOUS HP and RPM.

Thanks for the laugh tho. ;)

I cannot believe that some people lack the common sense to differentiate a obvious setup from something that's real.

Gopeds have one gear.

Common sense should tell you that the vid is fake.

Goped:

It's a 4 speed. 23k rpm. 2 stroke with tuned exhaust.
Lets say it's a 50cc engine. GP bikes with 125cc 2-strokes makes around 50-60 hp. Scaled down to 50cc ---> 20 - 25 hp.
Add NOS for 30-40% increase in power (taken out of my ass) gives 25 - 35 hp.
Small guy ~120lbs + goped (40lbs?) gives ~160lbs.
Power/weight ratio : 0.16 - 0.22 hp/lbs

Trans Am

~450hp (325 stock + mods)
3400lbs
Power/ weight ratio : 0.13 hp/lbs

Goped is the winner. I'd say this is possible.

Hmmmmmmmm...... I didn't notice the "4 speed" part.

What the fsck is a Velocity Mesh 4 speed? Nothing realevent comes up on Google, and I've never heard such terms.

I know of a guy who adapted a 5 speed automatic bicycle hub hub to his scooter, and he can go damn fast.. but not THAT fast. 35+MPH in 5th, he reports. Check out the Fly By's on his page.

You can also see Rick's "Rockzilla". Rick, my girlfriends mom's boyfriend, has an 18HP, 135cc US820 Kart engine powered scooter, and he can happily keep up with freeway traffic, but to outright beat a car like that.. there's just no way, unless the car was "letting" him.

It's a Komatsu-Zenoah GRZ43, 43cc. I cannot find any information about this particular engine, but even with a tuned pipe, 25HP is pushing it.......

The Italian made 50cc screamers only do around 18HP.. with tuned pipe.

I dunno. I think it's a pretty big stretch.

I think it's a big stretch too but with serious $$$ spent it can be close. 23k rpm requires serious mods.

Zenoah engines
This one makes 3.3hp @10k rpm without tuned exhaust. A well tuned exhaust gives around 50% increased power ---> 5hp @10k rpm.
Increase to 23k rpm ---> a lot more power. Assume the same torque at top rpm ---> 11.5hp @23k rpm. Add NOS ---> 15 - 20hp.
Skinny ass kid + light goped and we are close.

Hmm.

Hmm.

Let's figure this out.

How fast do you think he would need to be going to not only out accelerate that car, but beat it like that?

50? 80? 90?

Okay, with 8" tires and a gear ratio of 3:1 @ 23000RPM, he would have a top speed of 58MPH.

3:1 is VERY, VERY low for a GoPed. The gear ratio on my scooter is 6.48:1, and THAT is very low. I have no hill climbing torque available at all. :p A typical 'ped ratio is between 10 and 15:1.

Unless his "4 speed" goes from like 15:1 > 10:1 > 5:1 > 2:1, there's just no way. :p

I would like to call people's attention to two things:
- a trans am, with an extra 150 HP, is probably going to smoke the tires a little
- at ~52 seconds, the goped rider wobbles, but in a highly accerated fashion. In other words, they filmed it by popping the TA into first and letting it crawl (or, at least, didnt go wide open throttle), and filmed the whole thing with a slower than usual frame rate, thus effectively speeding up the action
