Looks like going to lose both Mississippi and Alabama. He should just drop out already and give his delegates to Santorum.

no thanks... there is no circumstance under which I'd want to see Santorum as the Presidential nominee for the GOP, no matter how much easier people may claim it would make Obama's reelection.

what will be funny is if Romney loses both states but still walks away with more delegates from today's primaries than anyone else.

Makes me wonder how well Rick would have done against Mitt in previous states if Newt had dropped out of the race. Since its fairly obvious Newt takes Votes away from Rick.

Newt is like, what, 3% from victory? Considering no one in the race is winning over any voters...

Romney is the pathetic candidate. He outspent the other two candidates 3-1 and 5-1 and still came in third. If Gingrich was out, Santorum would have racked up even more delegates so he still needs both of them to split the 60-70% of the Republican electorate that is rejecting him in the deep south. Pathetic night for Willard.

I bet Romney's 'i like catfish and grits' routine hurt him, that's the most blatant/pathetic attempt at pandering i've ever seen.

I wish we could just declare Obama the winner, and *maybe* someone will focus on something constructive, instead of this circus played on both sides.

Are you saying it's tough to watch your party in action? Cuz that's what it looks like you are saying.

Obama would crush Santorum in the general election but even the idea of Santorum being on the ballot with a snowball's chance in hell of actually becoming the President of the United States scares the ever loving shit out of me.

I don't vote. Never have, likely never will. Never voted for a Republican. Never voted for a Democrat. Never voted for an independent.

It is painful to watch the Republicans get behind the mic. It is painful to watch Obama and the other Democrats get behind the mic.

I don't care enough about this election to want to pay any attention to the campaign. There are far more important things this country needs to get done, that neither party is doing a damn thing about because of the election cycle.

I must be confused, I thought you were a conservative.

Besides not wanting Gingrinch himself to be POTUS, I REALLY don't want to see his Stepford wife become First Lady. Gives me the willies just thinking about it.

I guess holding out on Santorum to get as much as he can out of some kind of deal is about all the Grinch can hope for now. Personally, I'd like to see him become the Ambassador to some sinking atoll nation out in the middle of the Pacific somewhere.

I agree. Santorum could even be in the lead right now had Gingrich dropped early, and that considering Romney's spending. It doesn't bode well for voter enthusiasm for him come November.

I'll put it this way - I dislike the "far left" much, much more than I dislike the "far right".

Regardless of how I feel on a particular issue, I can usually understand the underlying reasoning coming from "the activist right", while "the activist left" comes across as jackasses.

Thus people believe I'm a conservative around here :p

Newt is in it to play kingmaker at the convention. He'll throw his delegates to whoever makes the best offer just prior to the first ballot.

I'm not someone to harp on a particular hot button issue when it comes to a vote for public office, but I cannot accept anyone who doesn't believe in evolution as a suitable candidate for President. I just can't. It would be degrading to my own psyche. Romney and gingrichich are not so bad in that regard, but Santorum should be taken out in to the streets and beaten imo.

That's the beauty of democracy - we get the leaders we deserve, not the leaders we want or need. What could be more fair?

We won't get the leaders we deserve until we get rid of the big money corruption and over turn Citizens United.
