The Fact that the OP even posted the question.... means he doesn't understand computers or technology.

At this point, i would believe the OP's technical knowledge rivals those who used to work at CompUSA.

He's not a technician... he's a salesman.

Please point out where I ever mentioned I was a technician, lol. Yup I'm a salesman. My tech knowledge is greater than that of most of the customers I serve and more than you lead one to think but yeah it's not great. You of course are nothing but a fool. These are all plain facts.

If I buy a new product I will update the BIOS as soon as I get it usually if it has listed fixes and not just processor compatibility update.

If I've had it for awhile, I wont mess with it unless there are problems. I guess I could see why he did it, if he just purchased it.

See when most people talk about motherboards they usually mean the desktop and or server variety. Of course laptops have motherboards, as do cell phones and most electronics these days but they tend not to be what you think about when one mentions motherboards.

My laptop has a planar board. 😉

Again I wouldn't usually do this for a laptop as they don't usually have backup BIOSes, but I understand doing it on a desktop motherboard.

I'll try to dumb it down a bit for you in the future.

you mean, the way the tech people tried to explain it to you... which you then tried to post here in your own words... but ended up saying

LOL why would you flash the BIOS on a laptop for no reason? On a motherboard I can sort of understand it because you usually have some fail-safes, but not on a laptop.

😱

woah!

hey!

sorry.. i don't swing that way.

we can be friends... but i'll never think of you THAT way.

Really? With all those PMs you've been sending me with subtle hints about being best buds and wanting to be "special friends" and all, I guess I just assumed it.

I'm really surprised by the number of people who would update their BIOS just for the hell of it. I have always had the attitude that a BIOS update is only ever applied to fix a specific issue. If the update doesn't solve a problem you are experiencing, you don't install it.

This. My policy for BIOS flashing has always been "Don't fuck with it if you don't have to."
