Meh, I'll take the cold and snowy winters of the midwest in order to enjoy the awesome spring/summer/fall seasons. Other areas down south may be warmer in the winter, but your summers are miserable.

People who rely on airport snowfall, rainfall, temps are retarded. Weather reports on TV are similarly retarded. This is the 10's man, join the future - use the internets. APRS reports neighborhood weather from lots of sources around u. Weatherbug and even accuweather rely on neighborhood stuff.

that lake effect crap has shutdown a major highway just west and north of us. Over 500 cars are stranded due to whiteout conditions. Hydro One has pulled it repair crews due to the storm, leaving over 1000 people without power. The OPP is pulling its cruisers because of dangerous conditions and are bringing in 4-wheel drive vehicles and snowmobiles.

Depends on where you are. For me in Garfield Heights, it wasn't too bad. Roads were mostly clean after a few plow runs. 480 near 271 was a complete mess. 90 was screwed up as well. On the west side things were a little slow, but not too awful. We're supposed to be hit again tomorrow with another 10" of snow, joy.

Kent State, which is about 10 miles directly south of my parents home, closed campus today, aka finals week...

another 8"+ is expected tonight....

Any reports from the Geauga county area?

Most reports are saying around 6" in the last 12 hours, during the day, which is insane...

No idea about Geauga, but that always get hit pretty good. Wouldn't be surprised if they got at least a foot so far.

chagrin Falls is about <4 miles west of me... so we get what they get, or more... i'd definitely say well over a foot...

I loved watching the weather radar when living in Chicago. Seeing the same green/blue/pink splotches in the exact same spots, on the opposite side of the lake, every damn day during the winter.

It was awesome. Suckers!

I'm not sure what's worse, lake effect snow or being just west enough to not catch the lake effect snow for snow days, but enough to mess up traffic.

I have uploaded a video of the storm from yesterday, just to the west of me.

I am glad that didn't hit us.

LOL at the map they use having a HUGE "Tim Hortons" logo on it, describing the area...

LOL oh and...

SNOW_ON_GROUND.jpg

that image updates all the time... right now my home town is in the 30"+ zone, yet from my assumptions, they are WELL over 30"s

I saw some pictures of last week's show, and one of my buddies took his plow truck down to London to liberate some folks (and their money;)).

We finally got a decent snow Sunday in Kitchener, but it wasn't a foot, let alone a meter!
LOL

nothing wrong with being an entrepreneur.

The squalls are supposed to hit us today as the winds shift. Right now they are still to the west of us.

The company closed my building, which has happened maybe 5 times since 1990. We got to go home at 3 PM (2 hours early) :)

Unfortunately I think I might be getting sick :(
