Short explanation..if you make it in photoshop, it aint a logo.
I believe you can do vector shapes in PS7.

sorta...not really though. You can make berzier paths and thats about it, you dont have actual vector object a la illustrator/freehand. You can make paths and fill them (make bitmaps out of em). Theres no direct vector handling.

I know it's not the same as Illustrator. It'd be stupid for Adobe to compete with their own products, but from their web site in regards to Photoshop 7:

"Vector output options for resolution-independent text and shapes"

eh i dont think you guys are following the whole logo concept..:
logo is somethign oyu put on business cards, signs, letterheads etc. Its not a picture you make in photoshop, to embed it in a webpage.

I mean really come can we be more mature here.

Thanks

What kind of people do you expect to make logos for a possible shot at a whopping $30? Professonal graphic artists, or poor immature high school kids with pirated copies of photoshop?

Exactly....key word "poor", as in there is no way in hell a high school kid is gonna pay $300+ for design software. Hell, I wouldn't...thats why I got my nice little pirated copy 🙂

Forget everything that you know about a logo. The guy said he wanted a simple logo that he could put on a website, and that's it. He didn't say anything about business cards or letterheads, all he wants is a logo for a site. So get off your master of graphic design pedestal and STFU.

So i guess the store would never want to send business letters to anyone huh? STFU. Learn some business sense. It's easier to do a real logo the first time around than to
redo it later for letterheads and stuff.

your a web designer with no artistic talent? I find that hard to believe... Anyways, being a graphics designer and webartist, I've taken [some] pity. Whipped up some logo pretty fast. YGPM.

I run a dozen web sites and have zero artistic talent either. "I'm an Engineer not an Artist".

Run is different than design, though.

Does anyone seem to know what a futon is? None of these submissions have anything to do with comfort, beding (well, with the exception of the MS Paint job), furnature, etc.

wrong! A logo on a well designed site is a focal point. Being a focal point, it garners a viewer's attention and is representative of a company or organization. You print up a different set of stationary or don't standardize around a single image, you confuse your audience and completely defeat the entire point of a logo. It's thinking like this that allows any monkey with a copy of frontpage to think he can compete with professional design firms. So maybe halik isn't the one here who should STFU.

Designers and engineers are completely different jobs. The designer is kinda like the architect and the engineer is the contractor, so I can kind of understand where darkstar is coming from. And since he's kinda new I'm gonna let this slide...but people on this board have been burned with promises for graphics for $$. Actually, I think your thread title is pretty much exactly what happened oh so long ago. LordMaul should remember it.

Might as well Nef this thread.

If anyone wants to waste time making a new tallbill logo for the main page of my site, i'll put it up. And you get nothing 😛 Yes thats right nothing. Im being honest though. You can be a part of tallbill history.

I currently have a futon for a bed! Basically its like a couch that folds into a bed. it has a 1 piece matress that is obviously the cushion you sit on as well as your bedding. comfort depends on the futon you get. its pretty convienient for a tv room or something. use it as a couch for the most part and if you have company use it as a bed. i'm done now. hope that helps.
