however with all that said id rather go with someone else. im not "really" happy with my purchase from justdeals. new is always better with speakers ... these refurbished ones altho okay ... sometimes a little glitchy (the subwoofer pops now and then).

Man, justdeals is tryin to rake in even more cash on ebay. They have the 640's for $42.77 + $17.95 shipping for total of $60.72! They have the same thing on their website for $34.77 + $12.90 shipping for total of $47.67.

Ive bought several things from justdeals and havent really had any probs. I ordered in bulk with my friends. We ordered like 6 cordless optical mice and a cordless keyboard. That way we split the shipping cost equally amongst the 5 of us! Its not too bad if you know other people willing to order with you.

Some quick questions about the z-540's:
In addition to volume controls on the one speaker, is there also a headphone jack on it?
Does the volume control knob also control the headphone volume?

I just got a front-panel headphone plug for my 8RDA+, only to discover that a) the cutoff feature doesn't work so well, as it seems to only reduce the volume of the main speakers, and b) it doesn't do a thing to the rear speakers. This is a kit I bought from FrontX which came highly recommended from a few people. It is a good design...at least usability-wise. Modular, and customizable. But a bit expensive...
So, I guess I'll be looking for a set of speakers that does have a headphone jack. My faithful Philips 4-speaker set lacks a headphone jack entirely.

Nuts. Why did that feature go out of style? Even cheap, POS $8 computer-show specials have headphone jacks!

I did have a Newq 3379 equalizer for awhile, but for some reason, it didn't get along with the nForce2 on my 8RDA+ with nVidia's recent drivers, which is especially weird considering that the equalizer itself doesn't have any drivers of any sort. (It would produce an echo with 4 speakers enabled.)
But one thing it could do was channel all four channels down into two, so that the headphones would work nicely, without having to reach around the back of the computer, or manually adjust speaker configurations.
