They make great input devices, but their speakers leave something to be desired.

I've been happily using the same set of Logitech speakers for four years now. Very happy with them. Sure there are better ones out there, but $80 to last me 4+ years isn't too shabby. They rival my sound system in my truck, but can't hold a candle to the one in my car (both are custom setups with subs, very thumpy :) ).

And I love my MX1000.

I'm referring to their sound quality vs. the competition in their price range, specifically Creative & Klipsch.

Logitech's driver support sucks. I bought both a USB scanner and a USB webcam from them around 1998, which came with drivers for Windows 95 OSR2 and Windows 98 ONLY. Once I upgraded to Windows 2000 about 18 months later, I couldn't use them for anything other than a paper weight :(

My first set of Z-560s failed on me. But a quick call to logitech support, and they sent me a new set overnight and I got to keep the extra satellites.

I dunno... I like the fact that the mouse recharges, but in all other respects I find the MX duo to be garbage. The keyboard is cheap and does not always work properly. And the some of the software it comes with which is supposed to be to detect updates is recognized by MS and norton as spyware.

They make good wireless console controllers, though.

Which mx duo? I have the ~$70 one, mx700 and a nice kb, I'm utterly in love. I've heard they make a cheaper ($25?) pair that isn't so hot though.

Really? What kind of price ranges are you thinking? In the budget range I don't think the z320/x530/z640 etc could be beat.

Sorry, I was referring to the higher end stuff; 680s/5500s vs. promedia ultras & gigaworks.

I think it's the 700, can't quite remember. I was using (and switched back to) an MS ergonomic keyboard and ms wireless mouse. They felt a lot more sturdy and do not fail on occasion.

Mine has never failed and feels rock-solid to me, like most Logitech input devices. I've tried a ~$15 Microsoft wired optical mouse and hated it, on top of being big and ungainly it felt very cheap. The mousewheel in particular was plastic rather than rubber, it still even had the molding going down the middle of it (this is in comparison not to the more expensive Logitech mx700, but rather to their ~$13 OEM base model wired optical - which I used to use before moving up to the 700). Anyway, here's a pic of the mx700, it has a very distinct look. I'm guessing you had the lower-tier wireless combo, which as I've said I have heard bad things about - the mx700 / wireless kb combo I have is very solidly built and, for me, has worked flawlessly.

My MX700 died when my nefphew droped it, but I love my MX1000.
My Z560's had the crackle in the volume knob, but cleaning the pot fixed it.
I like Logitech.

Damn you to hell torpid, my mx700 isn't working now for some reason :| Put it in the cradle, took it out to do one more thing, nothing. Tried rebooting, tried unplugging everything & taking the batteries out, nothing. I'm using a backup ball mouse lol...

I'll take your old ones!

Then I'll sell them as a set on eBay and describe them as "do not work normally" and some n00b will come along and not read the description and bid a high price!

I have some z-5300's hooked up to my tv, some x-230's in my gazebo, and some x-530's on my computer.

Logitec is awsome when it comes to speakers.

OOPES, just realized I am useing an mx510 mouse :)

While I like them and am using an mx700 mouse, the accompanying keyboard has died twice on me.

The Logitech dual analogue stick game pads are defective. They lost calibration and eventually stop working. They of course don?t admit to it, even though everyone who sends in their POS controllers got another one with the same damn problem.

I saw them packaging these things in 2 packs for 20 bucks. Nice way to screw over people.

3x dual action game pads (albiet they dont get the most usage ever), mx510 blue, and z560's and i'm quite content still

my logitech blue did start to wig out near the end, but it gave me 4 years of good service before it did (it survived my diablo II days :Q ). I love logitech.. now if they had microsoft's warranty..

My Logitech Optical mouse (the one you can get for like $15 shipped) has the two back feet off, and is getting really sensitive to stuff on the mousepad (more jumpy than it used to be).

OTOH, I've had it for almost two years, and I got used, and somehow whoever had it before managed to get the bottom wet enough for the sticker to start coming off (and coming off wrinkly--like it got wet). Whatever that was is probably why the back feet came off, too, as the front feet are still solidly in place.

This is after three Intellimice.

I can't say perfect, but my next mouse will definitely be Logitech. I've often switched to a trackball for precision when doing graphics stuff, so the newer one with the mouse-switchable DPIs will probably be my next mouse. I should be able to get the sensitivity right for 1600 DPI, then drop down for when I would normally want the trackball-like precision (being able to use buttons independently of any mouse motion helps with a trackball, but so should being able to make the mouse 1/4 as sensitive).
