Pop the keys out with a flat head screwdriver. Just make sure you don't get them jumbled up putting them back in place. Q-tip and IA to clean it out.

Thought it would be a great april fool's day prank to fake his suicide. Wrote a note for his wife to find, and wrote something like "haha, gotcha!" on the back. His wife entered the house, read the note, hurried to the bedroom, opened the door, and he pulled the trigger. The wad went right on through his temple, into his brain. Personally, I dont think she lost much, but thats just my opinion. Darwin sprinkling just a little chlorine in the gene pool is a good thing.

Even without a wad I wouldnt want a shotgun fired at me. Unburned powder + hot gas doesnt sound like much fun. With a wad, well, it exits the muzzle at roughly the same FPS as the shot does. And while it is wider, less dense, and consequently slows down faster, it'd leave a hell of a bruise at a couple feet's range.

I thought this thread would have amusing pictures of some redneck-type "gunz r kool" person with pictures of himself (not smiling of course) with the gun pointing towards the camera and pictures of the keyboard he shot up. I am disappointed that I was wrong.

I've reloaded shotgun shells before(my Uncle is a gun nut) and much of what Shockwaves said is true. The only part I disagree with is that it is hard to set off a primer. I've seen them be set off before by accident. We used to make blanks that didn't have pellets in them. Just powder.

It's got to be at least as safe as cutting up shotgun shells with a knife, and you don't seem to have a problem with doing that.
LOL, took the words right out of my mouth.

I wish I'd have seen this thread this morning... I'd have taken a couple of keyboards out for some shotgun practice - turkey season is almost upon us.

btw, NYStrooper was the only one to post correct information - just pop the keys off with a flathead screwdriver. Do the small keys only first... there are usually extra metal things under the spacebar and other larger keys. You'll see what I mean once you start popping them off. It's pretty easy, if you're a touch typer - otherwise be careful that you keep the keys in order.

I've never opened a keyboard before. I don't know how much of a pain in the ass it is to get it back together, you moron. I don't know if the keys just clip back in place or if once they're broken off, they're broken off for good. Jesus Christ just because I don't fvcking rip apart every piece of computer equipment I've ever had my hands on to see how it works doesn't mean I'm any less qualified to use it than the next guy. Fvck off. :|

wow kid, calm down

You can go away now, mkay?

ugh, no wonder so many dislike you on this board

What were you planning on doing with the powder? You haven't mentioned owning a press so I am assuming more brilliant actions such as put powder in bowl, and light to see what happens?

I would just pry off all the keys and empty out everything. You might as well take the time to clean out your keyboard, and wash the keys. I do it about once a year or so. Its good stuff.

Well, powder charge and distance are big factors. A hot load would get the wad movin pretty good, but only for the first few feet. After that, a paintball gun has more downrange energy then a wad from a shotgun.
*heh* And no WAY I'd put ANY loaded gun to my body, be it a shotless scattergun round, a blank or a fired round. Guns and bodies dont mix, so dont mix them ;)

2) A shotgun shell outside of the gun isnt all that dangerous.

Oh yeah...
that makes sense....
...
...
try putting it in your pocket with your keys. Don't move around too much. You wouldn't want anything hitting the primer

Another wannabe "Great White Hunter" rears his stupid head....

I've hunted ALL DAY with pockets stuffed with a mix of 12 gauge, 7.62, 30-06, 44 mag and .22LR ammo. Along with my lighter, smokes and keys. I've reloaded more 12 gauges shells then you've ever SHOT. I've probably shot more by now then you ever will in your life.
So please, keep the discussions to those who know, and dont pretend to be something your not. Go out to the danceclub or bar or something.

It would be perfectly safe. I'll gladly carry rounds of anything you want in my pocket with my keys.

How much pressure is necessary to cause the round to fire?

Its a quick force. You cant just slowly push on the primer and get it to go, you have to pop it quick. Granted, if you freakin He-Man it you could probably get it to go, but in your pocket is fine unless you suffer a fall onto hard concreete from say.....5 stories up. At which point, I wouldnt be owrrying about the shell in my pocket.

As I recall, it does take quite a force, albeit on a small area, to fully detent the primer to which it would ignite the powder succesfully. If you have a faulty firing pin, you'd get the idea.

I don't know, but this might help:

Also, as Shockwave said it requires a quick force.

Basically, my point was that I've never need a wad fail to exit the barrel. If it didnt, you'd have problems when firing your next rounds ;). Not as bad as, say, mud getting into the barrel, but I wouldnt want to fire a round out of a gun barrel with any obstruction whatsoever, even though the chances of a major problem are relatively low. I think I'm allergic to shrapnel :p

OK, so the funniest part of this thread is that FFM's keyboard doesn't work anyway. What differece does it make if it gets worse? He is already faced with replacing it, or trying to fix it and maybe having to replace it. :D
