Since these morons won't stop thread crapping, can I get a lock please? :|

-----

I was cutting apart shotgun shells last month and separating the "ingredients" into bowls. One of the shells I was cutting apart "exploded" because I was putting too much force against the knife. When the knife went straight through the top of the shell, the hand holding the shell suddenly had no opposing force (knife) and flinged the shell back at my face. All the little pellets went everywhere. They taste like sh|t. A few of them landed on my keyboard, but I thought it was only two. I was trying to wedge them out of between the keys, but the keys depressed too easily and the pellets fell into the keyboard.

>_<

I didn't think it was a big deal until this afternoon. I'm typing and the keyboard seems to be typing whatever it wants instead. The Ctrl and Alt keys seem to connect at random. So I pick up my board, having forgot about the pellets, and look in side. When I picked it up, I heard all the little pellets roll to one side and I realized that there are probably a good DOZEN in there. Fvck.

Anybody know if it's safe to pull the screws out of the back and remove these goddamn fvcking pellets before they drive me fvcking nuts?

I stomped mine to death than stuffed it in a toilet after it broke while writing a final paper...

No, I know you can repack them etc. I've packed a few in my time. Never took a knife to a live round though.

The knife was used to cut the top apart. Then the pellets were emptied into a bowl and the plastic shell that sits inside the main shell was removed. Powder was poured into a different bowl. How else would you suggest taking shells apart?

True, except for the following....
1) Its reLOAD, not repack.
2) A shotgun shell outside of the gun isnt all that dangerous. I wouldnt throw it on the ground but....
3) A shotgun shell with no shot is all but harmless, even in a gun. In fact, sometimes the powder charge doesnt have sufficient force to propel the wad out of the barrel if theres no shot.
4) A shotgun shell with no shot in it and not in a gun is harmless.
5) A shell can only be fired by activiating the primer or activating the powder (Through the primer). A knife wont do that unless you've got it red hot and are poking (jamming) it on the primer. No worries of sparks cause shotgun shells are plastic, ecept for the brass ring on the bottom.

if you have to ask if its 'safe' to open up a keyboard, maybe you shouldnt be using a keyboard, all those numbers and letters, etc...

Not sure if you saw the thread I posted, but I took about 22 or 25 shells worth of powder in a small glass bowl and lit it with a match in my front yard at approx. 1am one morning. Strangely enough, it wasn't a fireball -or round at all. It shot straight up like a pillar. It burned for about a second, maybe a second and a half. I was surprised! I'm also surprised that it didn't wake the neighbors up, either. It lit up the side of my house and my neighbors houses fairly well. :)

I've never opened a keyboard before. I don't know how much of a pain in the ass it is to get it back together, you moron. I don't know if the keys just clip back in place or if once they're broken off, they're broken off for good. Jesus Christ just because I don't fvcking rip apart every piece of computer equipment I've ever had my hands on to see how it works doesn't mean I'm any less qualified to use it than the next guy. Fvck off. :|

I've opened up plenty of keyboards to clean up the sh!t that builds inside. It should'nt give you too much trouble as long as you're careful.

It's got to be at least as safe as cutting up shotgun shells with a knife, and you don't seem to have a problem with doing that.

I'm not worried about my keyboard exploding. I'm worried about being able to get it back together so it will function properly -i.e. pre-pellets.
