Some moron from HardOCP called Best Buy about the email, and was told (of course) that they would be cancelling all remaining orders.

Calling Best Buy to check = Calling Best Buy and pointing out error = Dumbsh*t that deserves a flaming bag of dog poo on his front step.

My orders got cancelled, and I did not get the e-mail for backorder.

My roommate's order has not been cancelled yet and he got the e-mail about the backorder.

But with these backorder slips going out, I don't see how best buy is going to fight this now, and even some people have rainchecks for the card, but at 179.99. From the B&M

I placed 2 separate orders with 1 each of the cards when the "deal" was going on. The first order #2132xxx shows cancelled on the website and i got an emal a few days ago also saying it was cancelled. On the online order it shows a credit of the $135.xx amount back to my credit card. So i'm assuming they DID acutally charge my AE and had to credit me back....not just a credit authorization! The second order #2133xxx shows in process and i got the email today saying it is backordered and apparently still gonna ship (yeah, right). When i check the second order online it says "in process". I had also gotten a cancellation email several days on this order too, just like the other one. So i guess we will see...someday! Did anyone else get the info about a credit back to their card by checking the online status? I haven't checked with AE yet to find out if they did actually charge me in the first place or not. I thought they were only supposed to do an authorization hold for the amount and not actually charge you til it shipped.

just got another e-mail.......looks like they picked up on it and just cancelled my order. oh well, it was worth a try. good luck to the rest of you :)

Well, I suppose there are those of us who are eternal "optimists" about this deal...but like the cancellation e-mails, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the website gets updated too...



Anyhow, I dunno know why people even bother dealing with BestBuy anyway...they're prices suck and they're customer service sucks even worse. They're right there with CrapUSA on my list of Most Despised Retailers...and I didn't put them there because this deal went sour. BestBuy has been on my sh*tlist for a long time...this episode only re-affirms they're stronghold on crapiness in my book. :D The only time I bother going to BestBuy or CrapUSA is if there's someting "free" after rebate (and even then it's questionable) or if there is something that I absolutely need right away and cannot afford to wait for mail order. Apologize for my rant...

might be a stupid question but...

this item is still in my order page as well......

i came to the best buy page from visiontek's homepage (where they list places you can pre-order it). I didn't read it here until I came here to post about it, heh. Anyway, you think they log what sites people come from, and automatically cancelled orders that came from pages that posted about this "deal"?

I received the cancellation email the other day, then the backordered email today. This afternoon I received another
cancellation email. Up until the 3rd email, my status was in process. Now it is cancelled.
I guess that means the end of it.

If they offered us the $179 deal as compensation, I bet they would get a lot of orders, but I heard that was ANOTHER
error on their part they are not going to honor. Two errors in a few days on the same product. I bet someone's job
is changing.

They are just trying to swep it under the rug, but to many people have it listed on their site know.

BB is going to either just live up to their price or eat some bad press and a lawsuit
