imo, people are missing the point of this thread.
in my opinon that nik's threat of violence wasnt really a threat of violence but rather a statement at his frustration at the situation.

theres a guy who was bothering his girlfriend and she took the appropriate actioin against it.
he is worried about her and wants to in someway do something about the situation but at this point there really there isnt anything he can do.
but he feels like he should be doing something to protect her.

imo its not a thread about racism or being a good boyfriend or if someone encourages sexual harassment... its just a guy venting some anger.

According to this thread, they have filed sexual harrassment charges against the guy at her work. That's a lot more than just a guy venting some anger about another guy bothering his girlfriend a little.

zuh?

if a guy was bothering me at work i would talk to my manager about it. the kid wasnt fired, the manager just made it so they were apart which is what i would hope would happen.

edit: she obviously felt he crossed a line and that she couldnt handle the situation if she went ot her boss about it.

According to the thread title, his girlfriend is the one who filed harassment charges. He's pissed about it, and rightfully worried/pissed. If this happened to your girlfriend/wife, don't you think you'd be a little peeved too?

*sigh*

Going to her manager and saying that a fellow coworker is bothering me is very different than filing sexual harrassment charges.

You're all missing the point of my posts. I'm not mad that FFM is pissed. I would be, too. My problem is that she filed SEXUAL HARRASSMENT charges with her manager and the guy did nothing of the sort.

He obviously doesn't care as much as I do. Well, he can sit back and indirectly say "eff you. you can take care of yourself. you don't need my help and if you did, I wouldn't give it to you" and bash people who actually help their significant others all he wants.

from what he said in the thread it seems like it was just a complaint rather than a sexual harassement charge.

as someone who has to deal with stuff like this sometimes, it depends on what chelsea thinks. if she's feels threatened and is not comfortable, then it is a hostile work enviroment and she did the right thing by going to her manager. it sounds like the manager gave the guy an ultimatum, so if he does fsck up, he's gone. he's going by the book basically. i think the best thing to do would be to wait and see. it sounds like nik is just concerned about his gf which is perfectly understandble. no need to make a race issue out of it, just because race was mentioned. i would be pissed off no matter who did that if it was my gf.

Well, then maybe this is all a misunderstanding because he has sexual harrassment in his thread title.
rolleye.gif

And FFM, you can take my posts out of conext as much as you want and you can take how I feel to extremes (much like you do your own emotions), but like I said, I've been in your sitation before and my girlfriend at the time handled it quite well without me. It's not because I refused to help her, it's because she could and didn't need a big strong man to protect his "cargo".

It's called nipping the problem while it's still a bud. ;) And from what he said, the manager just gave him a warning. I don't recall any file of a complaint with authorities (which is what happens with true harassment).

Whether or not the police are involved is irrelevent. I understand your intentions are good, but I think with sexual harrassment charges of any kind, and to anyone, are crazy in this situation. Some of the things this guy has done have been inappropriate, but none of them seem to be sexual harrassment.

I'm not being picky, I'm merely discussing the situation at hand with the information I've been given. If the information you're handing out is incorrect, then that's one thing, but they don't seem to be because the thread title still says that she filed sexual harrassment charges.

That's the part I really have a problem with. Sexual harrassment charges are NOT something to just throw around for people you don't like at work. Unless the guy's done or said something directly to your girlfriend that you've not said in this thread, I don't think he deserved to have those charges brought up against him.

Also, if you expect only people who agree with you to reply to your threads, you haven't learned anything with your post count.

So, what, dating is purely plutonic?
rolleye.gif
You know damn good and well that all he wants is to get in her pants. Now, I don't know about you, but to me that's a little sexual. He's harrassing her. He won't leave her alone and she keeps pushing away from him. In today's extremely touchy and defensive-of-women-in-the-workplace-to-be-politically-correct society, if a man gets accused of something like that, it's usually referred to as sexual harrassment. I don't understand why you don't see it. But, actually, when I think about it, I couldn't care less why you don't see it. :) Go away.

Which was the right thing to do and I agree with that, but sexual harrassment is not a phrase you throw around when someone complains to a boss. Sexual harrassment is a power women have in the work place and I hate to see it abused (which with the thread title as it is) makes it look like it was.

For the last time (do you have any idea how frustrating ya are?) She didn't go to her manager and go "I want to file sexual harrassment charges." She went and said that there was a problem between her and another worker. She laid out all that was happening. The management chose to take it the way they did.

Quit opening your mouth. It smells like ass in here now.

Sexual harrassment is defined as any action towards a coworker that makes that coworked uncomfortable. It is a VERY liberally written law. She had every right to go talk to her manager and file charges. He was making unwarranted advances to her and it needs to stop.

Yeah, she was abusing her right to be comfortable and not harrassed sexually

Just because he hasn't walked up and pushed his hands up her shirt doesn't mean she wasn't sexually harrassed. Sexual harrassment is more than physical; it's a look. It's a word.

When you think that sexual harrassment doesn't include words, looks, and gestures, you obviously don't have a handle on the concept. He's so itchy about it... I wonder if he's been slapped with it, himself, for doing something that he thought was harmless.

Sexual harrassment is more than physical; it's a look.
And there's the mentality that causes the abuse.

You looked at me wrong! That's sexual harassment!

Link

It seems what the guy said to other people could be held up as sexual harassment, I don't see it as a big deal. I'm sure guys have said worse things about your girlfriend behind her back and you've never known about it.

But this is mainly for those who feel that sexual harassment deals with ANY type of harassment. According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, it has to be of a sexual nature in order to be SEXUAL harassment.

Oh, and it doesn't include looks or gestures. Unless the gesture is of a sexual manner.

Steel toed boots. Might be hung like a horse but a swift kick in the nuts and he'll be out cold.

Of course I'm still confused as to how his checking a schedule and making remarks that could otherwise be construed as machismo and bravado suddenly makes him a stalker, raper, and killer.

You seem to be missing the whole won't-leave-her-alone part, the whole making-unwanted-advances-after-asked-not-to part, and the whole threatening-to-kick-my-ass part.

wtf is wrong with you people?! Sh|t, I never should have started this thread if you fscks are just going to crap all over it.

nik

Dude I'm not crapping on you for what you're doing but calling this guy a stalker, raper, and killer is a little extreme. I agree with what you're doing and how you're protecting your girl (all the more power to you) but degrading this guy first by rationalizing his actions as the result of his ethnicity then by using criminal terms to describe him, well I seriously question your people skills. I'm just a little more careful with my word selection, that's all, no need to get worked up over my questioning what you call the guy. Unbunch your panties already.

HIS RACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW POORLY HE'S RESPECTING CHELSEA AND I. HE'S DOING IT. HE'S HISPANIC. I MADE A SIMPLE CONNECTION TO ALL THE OTHER PROBLEMS I'VE SEEN AND HAD TO DEAL WITH IN THE PAST. HAVE YOU EVER CALLED THE POLICE AFTER TWO MEXICANS REPEATEDLY FOLLOWED YOUR MOTHER AROUND, KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR AT ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT, ETC.? NO.

Lay off the race issue. I made one single point about an observation and then left it alone. Do the same.

nik

Damn it I'm not trying to make this a race issue. If you want to go through the rest of your life judging mexicans and hispanics because of your traumatic experience fine, that's your decision. Note I never said anything about race in my initial post.

What I'm pissed about is that you're calling this guy a stalker, rapist, and killer. It's people like you that make lawyers rich because those terms have no meaning anymore, people get all desensitized to this criminal sh1t because the words get tossed around to freely. He's disrepectful and makes unwanted advances, does that instantly degrade him into a sex offender? He checks her schedule. Big fawking deal, it's not like he has her home address or phone number right? Now please don't tell me that you fear for your life now just because he said he's gonna kick your ass.

Ultimately all of this is on you. You're the one that posted your whole life story on here, does that mean you're entitled to an opinion and I'm not? Some think you're overreacting, some think you're making this a race issue, and then there's me that has a severe problem with your word choice because you don't seem to get the idea that being a stuborn jerk-off punk is one thing and being a damn criminal is another. You being a boyfriend ultimately won't get you in trouble. You calling someone a rapist and stalker and killer eventually will. You posted on here for some advice so there's mine.
