There are many cultures in the East were fireworks play an integral role in the celebrating the year. Sure, people do get hurt and people do die, but VAST majority (probably more than 95%) nothing happens to. The ones that do get hurt probably did it to themselves.

This is also coming from a guy who burned his left hand pretty badly over the 4th of july weekend. (I held on to a chinese fire cracker a bit too long. )

no one was hurt in this war but it did hurt my feelings to see all of my fire works go up in smoke

we use several things in the war. Saturn missile batteries, many types of artillery shells, and just about any type of multi-shot display. I made launchers for the artillery shells out of PVC pipe they look like guns. They have a pistol grip and they are pretty accurate when you get used to aiming them. We have been doing this every summer for the last 10 or more years with few injuries and alot of fun.

They were artillery shells (mortars) and repeaters. The BEST kind of firework.

I'd hate to see them use multi-break mortars.
