LMAO, NVIDIA's CEO is talkin' junk about ATI

bwahaaaahaaaa...

another example of Nvidia FUD. What with the R350 hittin production and all that!!!

/edit
now that I read the article, it seems pretty decent. Thought it was more "dust in yor eye" tactics by Nvidia.

``He is the most tenacious person I have ever met in my lifetime,'' said Greg Ballard, CEO of SonicBlue and former CEO of graphics-chip maker 3Dfx, whose assets Nvidia bought two years ago. ``I had everything but a silver stake through his heart and the guy came back to beat us.''

hmmmm... now that IS a compliment!

Huang is confident that Nvidia will end up back on top. ``Tiger Woods doesn't win every day. We don't deny that ATI has a wonderful product and it took the performance lead from us. But if they think they're going to hold onto it, they're smoking something hallucinogenic.''

If I were David Orton, I'd have that quote laminated and send it, along with an R350 to Huang 😉 I'd add a note in the box that says "WARNING: May contain hallucinogenic substances"

BUAHAHA 😀

Also included inside should be an audio CD of the GeForce FX's fan running at full speed 😀

I love Huang and Jerry Sanders. They seem to take thier jobs very seriously and it's personal for them🙂

i aint a fanboy of anyone, but i am almost positive nvidia wasnt on their asses while FX was delayed, i think they will have a new product out around the same time as ATI, only it will have more rendering pipes, and a bigger bus, destroying ATI, unless they know that the prototype FX drivers were bottom of the barell performance and they can get 10x the performance w/ new drivers

They will have the GFFX2 out by March? Highly, highly unlikely.

From that same article:
Yet there is evidence that ATI is gaining ground. ATI President Dave Orton said the company has picked up new customers, selling chips for Dell Computer's Dimension product line and Hewlett-Packard's Compaq Presario desktops.

And by the time Nvidia gets the GeForce FX to the market, ATI will be almost ready to launch a low-cost version of last fall's chip, a project that is code-named the R350.

Still, Orton isn't gloating. ``We respect Jen-Hsun,'' said Orton. ``We know he is not standing still, and we aren't either.''

No, it should include a DVD with a "cinematic rendering" of the GeForce FX's fan. It should be seen as well as heard. 😀

Here's more reason NOT to buy nVidia products. What an egotistical SOB!

At least ATi's CEO shows some respect towards his competition:

Still, Orton isn't gloating. ``We respect Jen-Hsun,'' said Orton. ``We know he is not standing still, and we aren't either.''

What does Huang's ego have to do with not purchasing a product?

Dunno...Maybe we shouldn't purchase ATI because of KY's recent lube job problems

I see some mutual respect coming from one side, and I'd like it from the other as well.

Same reason why I hate Martina Hingis and rejoiced the day Steffi Graf tore her to pieces during the 1999 French Open final. Of course, that was just after Hingis had told the press that Steffi's age would prevent her from amounting to anything.

We don't deny that ATI has a wonderful product and it took the performance lead from us.
I can't imagine nVidia's CEO admitting this. :Q . . . the "we'll get the crown back" rant is more his "style".

Probably nothing, but it isnt good for Nvidia's image. And it shows one other thing: Huang is PISSED for having the second place after so many years of monopoly over the market.

Imagine what comments he will spit out by the end of the month when we will see the first samples of the R350. LOL! 😀

PS: For a company thats smoking some hallucinating weed, ATI sure KICKED Nvidia's ass... 😀

Sales of Microsoft's Xbox game console, which features a couple of Nvidia chips, have been disappointing, and Nvidia is in a legal dispute with Microsoft over the chips' price.

Hasen't this been settled?
