People stealing levels

Some of the most popular levels from the LBP beta - God Of War: Demon Skull, Metal Gear Solid: Return To Shadow Moses, Hollow Bastion - are being copied and republished by other users, and they're taking all the credit for them. In some cases they have more hearts/plays than the originals. Sure, we can copy protect our levels, but we shouldn't have to. Hopefully Media Molecule catch onto this and ban anyone who's found copying other peoples' levels. Seriously, what are these people thinking?

Trophy levels

There are dozens of these scattered across LBP's thirteen pages of Cool Levels. They're designed specifically to earn people Trophies; for example, supplying enough point bubbles to get all the score multiplier awards, or giving you enough boost to earn the incredible speed Trophy. We don't think this is exactly what MM had in mind when they designed the game's community features, and it's simply a shameless way for the creators of these levels to get hearts/plays and up their play/share/create scores.

People uploading unfinished/broken/test levels

We've lost count of the amount of times we've played a level, only to find out that it's an empty room with a single obstacle in the middle, a pile of random junk, or a level that's impossible to complete thanks to bad design. Before anyone uploads a level they should test it to within an inch of its life, trying every possibility and making sure people won't get trapped or stuck. Probably 50% of the levels online now are like this, and again, Media Molecule need to plough through the archives, moderating any levels that aren't up to scratch.

People asking for the Kratos costume code ALL THE TIME

This is more of an internet problem than the actual game itself, but look at any LBP forum - GameFAQs, the official one, Gametrailers, anywhere - and you'll see dozens of posts like 'PLS GIVE ME KRATOS KODE PLS!!11' or 'WILL SWOP RESISTANCE BETA COEDE FOR KRATOTOSOS COSTUME EEE!!1' Expect to see this making its way to the main game. Take our advice; if you have the costume (like us), don't play online with it. If you do, expect dozens of desperate, begging PSN messages. "PPLLZLZLLZLZLZL!!!!11111!!"

The servers can't cope

Last night, about the time when the Americans were waking up, the servers suddenly imploded. Nothing would load properly, the game would freeze and hang, and even checking your friends' profiles or uploading a level was impossible. Hopefully they'll add more heft to the LBP servers come the EU release, otherwise the game's at risk of buckling under the weight of the millions of users trying to play it. It took us nine or ten attempts to upload our level last night, and multiplayer was lag-tastic.

Hate those level stealing assholes. They should be banned from LBP servers.

I think people are making empty shit levels just so they can get the "First!" trophy. First 10 people to complete the level gets that trophy.

Those code beggers are pathetic. They had months to pre-order the game for $5 from gamestop and BestBuy, but they say fuck it, I'm gonna use that money for a 5 dolla foot long. Now the game's released, they spam every forum on the internet w/ requests. What the hell are the moderators doing?

MM/Sony underestimated the amount of people who will buy this game. Hopefully they'll fix the problem by the end of the week. Just glad I didn't glitch while d/ling the pre-order costumes. I read some people glitched out during the process and their codes got voided.

Baked, I see your post above about code beggers, I agree, but I am wanting to trade and the reason I didn't preorder from BB was, the closes one too me is still pretty far away unfortunately otherwise I would have preordered a copy there as well.

So I finally got LBP today, and sat down to play it for an hour or so. Before I was going to head off to bed, I was going to redeem my Kratos Gamestop preorder code. Turns out that for some reason, they decided against the typical metallic covering that you scratch off with a coin, and instead put some kind of plastic adhesive over the code instead.

Once I finally figured out what I had to do to get the code, I started peeling off the plastic piece from right to left. I guess I was going to fast, because when I started to reach the beginning of the code, the very top layer of the piece of cardstock that it was printed on went with the adhesive. Once I realised what had just happened, I only lost the first two characters, which wasn't as bad as it could be, but still sucks. There was no saving the piece of cardstock that came off, because it probably wasn't even as thick as a hair.

I can very slightly see some black markings from the right side of the second character before the paper tears away, and it would appear to be a 2, R, K, X, or Z, but I've went through every possible combination with those being the second character, and no dice.

There are 1300 different combinations I need to try unfortunately . I'm going to give Gamestop a call tomorrow and see if there's any chance they have some left and will let me trade out the partial code I have for a new one.

I read JPN LBP players can download the Spacesuit and 1st week T-Shirt costume now. They also get pumpkin head and the piposaru costume from ape escape.

The redeem code's printed on scratch and sniff type card. It's metallic paint over plastic, w/ the code printed under the plastic. I read a lot of people over at playstation forum didn't realize this and destroyed the code. If you're lucky and your GS has spare codes, you can bring your ruined card over and get a new one.

There seems to be an abundant amount of GS Kratos codes, people are just passing them out like free candy on the Monday. Nariko codes not so much.

Well, that's what I was thinking at first, but I couldn't get anything to scratch off. So that's when I took to peeling the plastic off.

I absolutely cannot get my Kratos pre-order code to take. As I said before, I got a new code today, scratched it off myself, and it says the code is invalid. I've tried entering it in the Redeem Codes thing from the XMB, and I went into the PSN Store and tried it there, but no dice. This would explain why I couldn't get that other code to take last night....something is wrong here.

Any thoughts?

Chances are the LBP servers are down again. Can you connect to the server when you start LBP? They've been having a lot of problem keeping the servers up since launch. It's either very laggy or it's not up at all. They released a 1.03 patch last night I think, but I'm gonna wait a little bit.

AFAIK, you redeem the pre-order code thru the LBP server, if it's not up you can't redeem. I'd try again later.

Hopefully that's it. I got home, tried entering the code, and it wouldn't take. So I hopped into the game, had to download the 1.03 update, then played about 20-30 minutes or so. After that, I played a level online, and had a very amusing play session with 3 other random people, so the servers were working fine at that point. I'll keep trying the code.

But speaking of that online play that I did, it was very fun. I hopped into the race level where you're trying to climb the castle in the fastest time, and playing it with 3 other people was the most fun I've had online in a while. Everybody tried their damndest to get to where they needed to be, but it basically a big clusterfuck. At one point in that level, there are 3 swinging drums that you have to hold on to and swing to the next one. We each were trying to time it across, and the guy in the lead got stuck on the last one because the camera was zoomed out as far as it would go.

So I was swinging back and forth on the middle one, and decided to hop over to the last one with him. So we were over there holding on, waiting for the other two to catch up. I guess he accidentally let go of R1 and hit it really quick again, because he fell and immediately latched on to my leg! LOL His sackboy immediately got the scared-to-death face, and he was holding on for dear life as we were swinging back and forth. I was laughing pretty hard, it was just funny to see these characters come to life. With the expressions and shit, they really take on their own personality. We finally finished the level, and as we all stood there at the end, we all broke out into dance using the myriad of ways to move your character. Awesome, fun time.

Is there a way to search names of user-created labels? I hate trying with the labeling system..
