Not sure this is hot since 8X burners have already dipped below this price. 4X is hot maybe if it's Free After Rebate, which is what they soon will be.

lol.. true. if the hackin and the l337 factor is important, then liteon might be a more satisfying purchase. 😀

If you have any qualms about hacking the drive, then I suggest spending the extra dough on latest LiteOn.

Although, hacking the drive actually upgrades the 411s to the 811s. Not just a firmware upgrade, it will write at true 8x.
 
i love my liteon along with booktype which turns my dvd+r to dvdroms so now they work on everything i've tested it on.
 
In the last two weeks I've hacked 2 liteon 451s to 851s.
Both are turning out dvd's without a hitch, and have burned 6 +r's @ 8 speed.

Liteon is all I've bought the last 2 years (cdrw, dvd rom, dvdrw; hacked and unhacked) and have had 0 problems.
