2004-08-25 STATEMENT FROM MAYNARD
November 2nd, coinciding with the presidential election, APC will be releasing a collection of songs about WAR, PEACE, LOVE AND GREED, entitled "eMOTIVe." This week we will release one of these new songs entitled, "Counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums," with an animated video poking fun at our fearless leader. Hopefully, you'll find it as entertaining as we do.

REMEMBER... EVERY SINGLE VOTE COUNTS.

Don't let yourself be tricked into thinking it does not. It is important for us all to engage this political system and to be conscious of who is being chosen to speak for us. If you choose not to be involved with decisions that affect your life on a daily basis, in our opinion, you forfeit your right to complain about it later. THINK FOR YOURSELF. QUESTION AUTHORITY. Hopefully you will choose to vote on November 2nd.

Peace,
Maynard.
I herby renounce my membership of the TOOL and APC fan club.

Hope you like Kenny Rogers and Wayne Newton then. :D

:)
I don't have to listen only to people who reflect my political viewpoint. I don't care what a musician believes politically if he just keeps it to himself. He's a musician not a politican. Make music, not politics.

Why should he keep it to himself? The thousands of nobodies on this forum make their equally worthless opinions known time and time again so why shouldn't Maynard share his opinion through whatever medium he choses? If you don't like it do not view/listen to it.

Didn't APC just release an album? Did it do so poorly that they have to put a new one out so fast?

Edit: I listened. Dear lord, this song is terrible...

The Thirteenth Step opened up I believe #2 on the Billboard...it has sold close if not over 2,000,000 copies...

Can that be transfered. If so I will take it. You can always go listen to Britney Spears since it looks like you don't like people that at least try and use a little bit of intelligence (whether you agree or not a brain is a horrible thing to waste)

I really don't like this song, and I like most of APC/Tool's other songs.
Like somebody said above, they turned an upbeet hopeful song into crap.

If I go to P&N, it's because I WANT to hear what people are saying. If I go to a TOOL show or buy an APC album it's because I want to hear Maynard sing, not talk politics. Why do entertainers think that people are interested in their political viewpoint? Does everyone with a microphone think that the whole world wants to hear their dumbass opinion about Bush? Does he have some kind of political experience that I don't have, or is he just such a genius that his politics bear listening to? In a nutshell: SHUT UP AND SING. That goes for actors too. People like you because of your acting ability, not because you support Kerry: SHUT UP AND ACT. My opinion only, you are entitled to disagree.

Okay so you have a problem with "musician politicians"? Give me a frekin' break, dude. He wasn't pushing anything on anybody. Of course you can probably guess who Maynard is voting for...but, really, he is just saying to go and vote. Make an educated decision. He's not wearing Rock the Vote on his freakin' sleeve like Springsteen, Dixie Chicks, Puff Daddy or Kurt Cobain.

Well, considering I don't have any programs where I can download'em for free, yes it is. :) I just stick with freak dogpile, man. Sowee.

He's not just saying go and vote for anyone, make your own decision, he's making a video poking fun at Bush. Here's what I don't like. Why does a singer or actor think that because they are a celebrity people should listen to what they have to say about politics? If a politician or talkshow host etc. says something, ok, maybe I'll give it the time of day, because their politcal talk is what got them where they are. This guy may be a complete dolt that just knows how to sing. People listen to him for his singing not to hear his poltical drivel.

Oh ok. This is the part where I sit in the corner with a bottle of daniels and cry because I just got owned. You have a good point.

So you don't mind songs about man on man sex, states being destroyed, victimizing women, drug addiction, murders telling there tales. But oh crap Maynard is singing politics time to toss this cd.

Um yea I see the intelligence in your thinking.

Hello? If he just sang about it I wouldn't say anything. Sure, I may not agree, but music is music. But he's not just singing, he's writing letters on his site, and telling people how to vote and making videos poking fun at Bush. Please tell me you see the large, fundamental difference.
