Terrible movie.

But according to Wiki, it had a budget of $1MM and took in $35MM.
That's why there will always be another Paranormal Activity - as long as people go to see it, they will keep spinning out more trash.

Honestly, I think if I was given a budget of 1 mil, I could have done a much better job with this movie than whoever is responsible.

This. WTF is wrong with those movie critics that actually liked it?

lol What did you expect? CG wolves attack plane crash survivors. For the most part, I thought the movie followed the formula the way it should have. Except the scenes where Liam would reflect on his wife. It seemed like it was meant for a serious drama and not a movie in this genre. This movie is a 7/10.

Oh, and watch past the credits. It may change your feelings on the ending. I hate it when they put good footage in the credits, or after them.

The 5 year Engagement - 4/10 Just another Jason Spiegel flick but without the normal comedy elements.

Snow White and the Huntsman (extended version) - 3/10 The storytelling simply wasn't compelling it was just some neat CGI aging Charlize Theron and Bela Swan being mostly useless.

Rock of Ages 7/10 - I liked the music which is why we rented it but yeah the story sucks.

Sinister - 6/10

Not the best movie of all time but it certainly could have been worse. A true life crime investigator finds a box of old movies depicting the murders of multiple families in his home. And then strange occurances begin to happen.

It isn't scary but it does a good job of building suspense.

That is much more generous than I would give it. 3/10

Sloppy writing. Decent acting. Highly unoriginal, even for a modern horror movie.

To sum it up: Ethan Hawke has a shot of whiskey, stumbles around in the dark for 10 minutes or so until there is a reason to insert a jump scare. Repeat for 90 minutes

Roots - The Next Generation

Not gonna rate this yet since I only watched a couple episodes, but so far I am not keen on it. Isnt nearly as good as the previous mini-series.

Watched some horror movies on Netflix the past few days to get into the Halloween mood.

Absentia was better than I expected. I'd recommend giving it a watch, though I felt somewhat unsatisfied at the end.

The Final was fairly stupid and not really horror - just torture porn really.

Quarantine 2 was also better than I expected, but not great. Low budget zombie movie means it all really happens on 2 sets with a fairly limited cast.

Vile was basically torture porn with some drama added in - reminded me of Saw.

Taken 2 - 8/10.

If you watched the first one, this one is similar (characters and plot) but in Istanbul instead of Paris. I like this one a bit better than the first one because how the main character used his smart (counting the clock click) to figure out where he was in the big city. The old big boss at the final scene was a big let down.

The females of the Mill family need to shut up and just do it instead of screaming "but..but..but..tell me what is going on"

Frozen River - 8/10

Good drama. Mainly watched it for nostalgia since I grew up around the area it was filmed. I'm quite familiar with the local winter. :p

Invasion of the Pod People (2007) and Demon Seduction (2005).

Dont ask, just watch.
Netflix.

lol/10- definitely not for the blood squeamish or anyone who values Good Story, Good Acting, or Good Production values. This Netflix user review sums it up:

"This is hands down one of the wost movies I've ever skipped through. Let's put it simply; this is a soft-core masturbatory fantasy cooked up by an 18 year old basement dweller with access to a camera and some 'friends' who have the desire to strip but lack the talent. Direction."

Its like one step shy of hardcore porn. I'm actually surprised to find it on netflix. If everybody knew about it, all the other porn sites would go out of business. Seriously.

Some mother will catch her son whackin off to it, then Talk Shows/Fox News will rant about going to hell in a hand basket.

Safe 8/10

Jason Statham's typecast movie, but with some really good fighting and gunplay (next generation feeling; not cheesy Jackie Chan, not over the top Crank). Story suffers at times, sometimes badly, but the action sequences and surprisingly good characters make this one of the better action movies.

Don't like action, or can't stand obvious plotholes... 6/10 for you.

Not quite as good as the others, but the topless deaf translator is enough to move it up a notch.

Chernobyl Diaries - 8/10 - About what I expected. But I like this genre in particular. Basically horror with a sci-fi kind of twist: i.e. The Descent, Pandorum, Hills Have Eyes, Event Horizon. It was actually quite neat seeing Pripyat being a fan of the Stalker series. They had the stereotypical Belarus guy leading the tour.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 3D - 6/10

It wasnt as good as the title and trailer imply. They should have scaled it back to just his early years, as it seems they tried to cover too much ground. Some interesting eye candy, but the dialogue and story in general was terrible. 3D was solid, as it was mainly used for depth.

The Devils Carnival - 5/10

I enjoyed the over the top B grade scenery and costuming, but that simply couldn't make up for the poor story execution and repetitive, uninspired songs. I spent most of the show wishing they would stop singing.

This.

Watched it last night on Blu-Ray 3D. Came here to post the same impression and the same rating.

I agree with one difference. I enjoyed the singing. Granted at times the pronounciation sucked.

I have to say one thing that I liked about the movie. It is different. Probably go 5.5/10 just because I can't give it ia 6 but I think it deserves more than a 5.

The conclusion to the movie was also kind of wierd. I think I understood the rational but the story did not take you there very well.

Cashback - 7/10 - a romantic comedy. Kind of odd though given all the nudity in it, I don't think it is date night material. I thought it was funny. The comedy was much like teenage/college level humor.
