They could easily make an older OS just as secure, but they won't when they don't have to.

I believe this to be false when your speaking of an OS as old as XP.

They would have to rewrite entire portions of it that doesn't make sense for a business.

Its like asking Intel to just keep the same boards and put new sockets on them.

Never gonna happen in the real world.

You not upgrading is bad for their bottom line.

Has anybody changed the desktop background color on Windows 10?

The option is still there, but I had to go through what felt like a back door to get to it (command for the DOS prompt).

When I Googled it, most of the hits are for the taskbar, windows, etc. What, Microsoft, you just assume everybody is good with black, or covering every square inch with something? I suppose I should be happen that the the option is only hidden.

most people use wallpapers I guess, but ?? Settings > Personalization > Background. Select "Solid Color". That is for Fast Ring insider preview, can't imagine it is missing from the regular build though.

Yeah, that works if you want a solid color for the entire screen, but not if you want to change the color surrounding a pic (at least it didn't work for me). I should have clarified in the above post.

Not sure why you would expect Windows 10 to have an option to customize your individuals pics, if I'm reading that right.

You can just right click on the main screen and pick personalize and change most things in general.

Individual pics seems to be something you would have to edit on your own.

Not the pic. The background around the pic (if it natually doesn't fill the screen, or if your don't choose to make it fill the screen).

Not sure whats up there I guess then, I have my background just to black and it works fine here on both monitors behind pics.

I am having a few issues with insider build 14271 atm with a security kernel problem causing a reboot now and then which is starting to get annoying.

First time I had seen that one, have been scanning a few things.

Here is another bug in Windows 10. Put the computer to sleep, in this case it was 2 hours, and wake it up. Try clicking on the Start Menu, Action Center icon or any non-3rd party program icon on the taskbar and it doesn't do anything. Even right clicking on a program that is open does nothing. However right clicking on the Start Menu does work. I haven't kept track, but I don't know if this happens every time or just sometimes.

I was looking at it this morning, and figured it out. If you set the solid color first, you can then switch it to slideshow and it will show the pic over the color selected. Having figured it out, this particular install is probably the last time I will ever run into this situation (that's how these things go right?). Still glad I know the easy way to do it.
