I can't see why anyone would mind this, the alternative is just having people kill the donkeys and cutting them into steaks and then feeding those to the lions. At least this way the lions get to excersize their hunting instincts.

LoL. As if lions in a zoo need to exercise their hunting instincts. They won't ever be released into the wild (at least, successfully) if raised in a zoo.

Just feed them tuna in a can and be done with it.
 
The lions still killed the donkeys quickly and fairly humanely like they do in the wild; that's kind of interesting (although the lions could have just been captured, rather than raised in captivity)

and i don't mean that in the "humane = human" kind of way

There are quite a few animals that don't really try and kill their prey -- they just go straight ahead to eating it. Cats tend to go straight for the throat to kill their prey first.

There are quite a few animals that don't really try and kill their prey -- they just go straight ahead to eating it. Cats tend to go straight for the throat to kill their prey first.

But the idea that nature/the wild is in any way humane is far-fetched. Animals do that which immediately benefits them. They do whatever is in their power to do.
