It looks good to me, but I've heard that it was stupid. Maybe I'll give it a shot someday. I typically dislike Disney movies.

Am I the only one that thinks this movie is HORRIBLE? Not b/c of the plot/animation, but b/c of the MESSAGE it gives to children today? This movie encourages children to act out and demonstrate every single piece of disrespectful, unacceptable social behavior that children should NOT be doing.

The main character has absolutely no repspect for her parent-figure, no manners, doesn't play well with other kids, doesn't share, lies...and that's only in the first 20 minutes of the movie!!!

I took my seven year old son to see this movie and was appalled. Sickened, to be honest. There's nothing cutesy or fun about this movie.

Now, Monsters Inc. and Ice Age, those are GOOD kids movies. Funny and polite, if you will. Kids these days have enough advertisements and "hip culture" thrown at them encouraging bad behavior. Case in point; the whole Burger King TV campaign, where they show bratty kids ages 6-12 ordering their parents around and yelling "KIDS RULE!" and crap like that.

No, so; you don't rule. I pay the rent here. I will put this boot up your ass. I rule! Your Mom rules!! Kids don't rule. Kids have no rights. You do what you're told or you get your ass beat. Any questions? Didn't think so.

Now, I am not an ogre. I am a good Father. But, my son WiLL respect me. Lilo and Stitch is one of the worst children's movies ever. My son's mom bought it for him (he doesn't live with me) and I will not permit him to bring that movie to watch at my home.

Heh, I'm not a stick in the mud by any means. But speaking as a parent trying to raise a child in this day and age I can say with some certainty that this movie delivers an entirely WRONG message to children.

I think the movie delivers whatever message you want it to deliver to your children. You can talk to them after about it, find out what they liked, what they didn't like. Explain to them that cartoons are just fantasy, that their parents are still their parents, etc etc.

If you let the media control how your child thinks, then it will end up doing just that.

don't take this the wrong way, I really don't know you as a person, but you can't FORCE a child to respect you and thinking you can is assine. You can't force anyone to respect you, it's earned over time. I can't judge you as a father from one post, but man you gotta relax a little. It's a movie.
I understand where you're coming from though, a lot of kids today don't have any respect for anyone. And you can probably blame that on their parents as well. But you can't blame this Disney movie for ruining a child. From my experience and from what I've seen around me, kids respond much better to love and kindness rather than an iron fist and a "my way or the highway" attitude. You should sit down with your son and watch the movie with him and discuss it during and after the movie. Tell him that the kind of attitude displayed in this movie is not appropriate and the reasons you feel that it isn't. Just denying him the movie will only work for so long. One day he will begin to question you and will do all the things you told him not to as a child. It's called rebelling. But if you've also engrained in his head the reasons you should disrespect your elders, etc., it'll stick to him.
Ah but what do any of us know about rainsing kids anyways? Anyone who claims to have the answer is either lying or they don't really have any.

WOW I'd never thought that I would hear that kinda statment out side of my house! I didn't think the movie was that bad in fact I liked it lot. I do however agree with MichaelD on the childs behavior it was poor and the fact the her sister just had to put up with for fear of the system taking her is a total crock. The message the is being sent to the kids to day is Do want you want when you want how you want and that not right because it is undermining the parents and making monsters out of our kids.. but I'm gettin off topic. Lilo & Stich was a really good movie.

It's very true that as a parent, it's my responsibility to monitor what my son watches/reads/etc. I saw the commercial for this movie and thought; "aw, a Disney movie about a little girl that adopts a space-rat looking thing...how cute! I'll take the boy to go see it!"

I had the best of intentions. Children identify with these characters and act out accordingly. My son asks me a LOT of questions about a lot of things. I enjoy sitting down with him and explaining things...teaching him the way the world works, etc.

But TV commercials today...look at the Chuck E. Cheese commercials. Kids calling their parents "lame" rolling their eyes when mom says "time to leave" or whatever....my father smacked my ass halfway into next year when I did anythign like that. You learned quick though. You learned that kids do not rule. :)

Anyway, unless you have a child yourself, you have no idea what I'm talking about.
