Your not training in a gym, your training in a lifestyle centre mate. I suggest you find a gym.

Don't really care what you want to call it. It works for me and I have no desire for anything more.

Sometimes the attitude of the serious heavy lifters and bodybuilders here is quite a turn-off. Almost never you Koing, this isn't directed at you, but it's something I've been wanting to say all thread. We don't all have the same goals. We don't all have the same needs.

Not trying to argue, but it's not an issue of goals. What I do with my time in the gym has nothing to do with my opinion that gloves are a shitty solution to grip issues. I've seen guys get hurt accidentally dropping a weight and this is the only motivating factor behind my posts.

most I find use gloves to protect against calluses and pad the bones in their hands.

I'd say that would be the #1 reason...grip next possibly.

It does suck to have rough hands. I just deal with it now that I am married.

When I was dating my hands would scratch and just piss chicks off.

I use gloves and have been using them for years. Use them for lifting, the Speed Bag and the Heavy Bag. Just got into the habit of using them when I started 16 years or so ago and now I just don't feel comfortable without. The first 5 years I was lifting I was doing in in my garage gym so I wasn't aware of them being uncool. By then I didn't give a fuck what others thought. Now if I was just starting out I probably wouldn't have used them for the reasons others have given..well except SC's opinion that they make you look like a tool, as if anybody should give a fuck what others think.

I keep my gloves until they are about ready to fall apart so they are pretty well conditioned and are more like an outer skin. I always use the inexpensive leather ones without any padding to speak of.

Im just focking around mate. But there are very few proper gyms about!

I was a very avid climber so gloves would be a no no no and I like to do stuff with minimal extras.

i thought it was funny, but since my gym offers tanning, arguably i work out at a lifestyle center, too.

The last gym I had was a funky mix...it had a uv filtered pool, 3 floors of stuff...apparently the biggest gym in the country, indoor basketball court, 13M indoor climbing wall, a tanning thing that was in the mens changing room, a health spa thing, but at least they had 2 squat racks :)

The had a platform but not weights that weren't suitable to be dropped.
