Well, I just attempted my first "automatic" dishwashing ...um...wash. Unfortunately, I was unaware that there were certain soaps to use by hand and others to use in a machine. After throwing a generous portion of Palmolive in the machine and setting it to go, I went off to eat. Upon returning I found HUGE mounds of soap suds all over the kitchen floor. Boo. Anyone else have examples of "Life's Lessons...learned the hard way?"

I got one. if you're going fast on a road bike, don't just switch from paved trail to grass...

ROFL @ the OP...of course you didn't bother to read the bottles? Just looked at the bottle my wife has in the kitchen. At the bottom of the back label:
"Do not use in automatic dishwashers."

What to do now

My life lesson is while on vacation try and not wash all your clothing you've brough with you in a strange washing machine. It just might stop working in the middle of washing them, leaving you with nothing but water soaked clothing.

This one time I slept with a married woman because she said her husband was "into it", boy was she wrong.

Oh well, live and learn.

Haha my grandpa did this a few months ago when he moved into a new condo (never had a dishwasher before). He's 80 years old though...

LOL, sorry no pics. Loaned my camera to a friend studying abroad in Australia. Thanks for the tip Bootprint! Also, yes it would have helped if I had read the back of the package, or even considered the name for a minute "PALMolive" as in "cleaning dishes with your PALMS-palmolive" Unfortunately I bought a 3 pak. Any suggestions on what to do with way too much dish soap I can't use?

oh, here's mine.

for first time drivers, realize the limit of your brake, especially if your car don't have ABS. I got into 2 accidents for that.

Yes, but I guarantee that noone here can top my list!
I'm educated, and I have an IQ in excess if 165, but I still feel compelled to "Try it this way instead"!

They say you learn from your mistakes: Well, I am surely one of the smartest people on earth!
(PS: I never repeat the same mistakes, thankfully.)

I did that to my mom's kitchen when I was 13. Good thing the house was concrete, and the floors were tile.

Along those lines, when you first learn to ride a bike, and are going down a dirt driveway on your brand spanking new BMX, remember that the LEFT brake is the front, and the RIGHT brake is the rear, and using the front going down a hill will make you flip onto your face.

Well, if you haven't bought dish detergent yet, save yourself another lesson - get dishwasher detergent WITH enzymes. A handful of products have enzymes and they clean much, much better. Yet people get stuck in a rut and won't switch to the far superior product.

My life lesson learned the hard way: if your wife/girlfriend wants to go on a break, it's over for good. Don't try to make anything out of that failed relationship even if you don't yet see any of the failure.
