Anyone plan on watching? I was really excited for this then I saw "Narrated by Oprah Winfrey"
I don't have anything specific against Oprah, but I don't think her voice will be good for narration, and after watching a few teaser spots with her in it, my opinion was verified I think.

Isn't the BBC version narrated by Daved Attenborough? I think I'll watch the DVD version of that. I saw all of the Planet Earth series and loved it.

I'll wait for the BBC version if someone else is narrating. I thought Planet Earth was okay either way but think I'll pass on Oprah as a narrator.

Wow, those are some amazing shots! The clip where they are catching that frog? running accross the top of the water from underneath... That must have been a long waiting game to get that shot.

The show looks great, just don't think I can listen to Oprah for a extended time and not get annoyed.

Same here, I like her OK I guess, but I don't think she'll be good for this. Morgan Freeman would have been a better choice for an american voice if that's what they were looking for

It's hard to beat him for a narrator of a nature show, for sure. I keep thinking about the clip he's narrating of the bird imitating a chainsaw, camera, car alarm, etc. :awe:

It's already available on DVD the more I look. If Attenborough narrates the BBC version, I'm in for 1.

Oprah narrating this, and DiCaprio narrating something about Hubble.

Next: Larry the Cable Guy narrates a documentary on the LHC.

+1 for me as well. would much prefer an Attenborough narration. I wasn't much of a fan of Planet Earth with Sigourney Weaver.

I saw a bit of a few episodes a couple months back. Looked kinda interesting, but there was usually something else on. I love planet earth though.

edit: I don't remember it being Oprah narrating.

these things are so fucking full of narration fail.

sigourney weaver and oprah winfrey both need to kill themselves.

edit: what is dicaprio narrating, again? i don't hate him like i do the above two, but he certainly doesn't have a good 'narration voice.'

edit2: oh, 'hubble 3D' for imax. whatever that is.

I actually didn't mind Weaver that much. But the Oprah narration just sounds like Oprah. It was painful to watch the snippets. There's something about her timing and inflections that just don't work for me.

I thought Weaver wasn't too bad for PE. Her voice seemed quite apt, actually; especially the way that PE was marketed and presented in the US--a bit more intense.

Anyway...big suck for Oprah. fuck that.

she's a media whore; that's pretty much her thing. Whenever she narrates her own spots (I have a GF; therefore I watch more than my desired share of Oprah :(), it always sounds fake and market-hyped. I never believe that she actually "gets" many of the things--products, movies, people, that she is hyping. It's whatever she thinks will sell.

Hmm... I, too, am disappointed by Oprah's narration.

David Attenborough FTW!

Well, in her defense, I'd imagine they came to her asking her to narrate it, not the other way around. Either way, it sucks.

Wow, I was having trouble finding it and then realized it was because it aired back in November-December in the UK. Released on BluRay and DVD already over there in January.

US gets stuff late
