You reminded me of an incident in my own home growing up where my oldest sister in her preteen years found a pistol hidden in my parents room and was wielding it around the house in a fit of rage against another teenager who was not present. Gun owners who are willfully ignorant of situations like these are the proximate cause of many gun related incidents and that is a fact that the right needs to stop ignoring. I don't want to take away your guns but I do want for you to exercise reasonable care in storing them. My father gets irate anytime I mention gun locks or other reasonable measures to mitigate against unauthorized access to his guns.My upbringing checks off all the scary check marks
Single Black mother who happened to be an immigrant and we happened to live in an apartment building that some might consider "the projects". Pretty sure we were on assistance at the time. Mom worked 2 jobs so we were latchkey kids (sister is 15 months older) as well.
I found my mothers revolver at the age of 5.
She had hidden it in a closet but unfortunately for her we were expert Christmas present hunters who could find anything with the help of our pet cockroaches.
