My upbringing checks off all the scary check marks
Single Black mother who happened to be an immigrant and we happened to live in an apartment building that some might consider "the projects". Pretty sure we were on assistance at the time. Mom worked 2 jobs so we were latchkey kids (sister is 15 months older) as well.
I found my mothers revolver at the age of 5.
She had hidden it in a closet but unfortunately for her we were expert Christmas present hunters who could find anything with the help of our pet cockroaches.
You reminded me of an incident in my own home growing up where my oldest sister in her preteen years found a pistol hidden in my parents room and was wielding it around the house in a fit of rage against another teenager who was not present. Gun owners who are willfully ignorant of situations like these are the proximate cause of many gun related incidents and that is a fact that the right needs to stop ignoring. I don't want to take away your guns but I do want for you to exercise reasonable care in storing them. My father gets irate anytime I mention gun locks or other reasonable measures to mitigate against unauthorized access to his guns.

I think it was David Angelo in one of his "Nuthin's Easy" episodes who responded to a college student clamoring for tighter gun control. Came out right before the election.

"Tyranny? Seriously? The government's not gonna come for you."

"You liberals say that now, but If Trump wins the election you'll have Rachel Maddow on MSNBC showing people how to saw off a shotgun."

It never seems to occur to liberals that control of government might go to the wrong people.

If she combined it with a Martha Stewart chocolate chip cookie bake-a-thon I'd watch it.:p

Not yet, have small kids, don't want to risk them getting a hold of it.

My dad raised 10 children and had 20 or 30 guns in the house at any given time. they were secured and not once did any of us ever get access to one unless we were under his strict supervision. Gun safety is easy. Half the battle is just teaching it to your children. When you don't teach your children then they being children will try to teach themselves and that is when bad things happen. I followed my fathers method with my boys and not once did they ever try to get access to my guns without my supervision. Teach your children for christs sake. It's your job!

Yeah, my home growing up as well, heck, my dad left a 22 rifle in his truck 24/7 unlocked plainly visible in a rear window gun rack.

Exactly right. I taught my sons about all of my firearms and allowed them to try each one at the range so they could see for themselves what each one was like to operate. They learned how to field strip each one and clean it and learned to respect them. This satisfied their curiosity about them and at no time were they ever inclined to attempt to access one in anger nor could they since they were locked up in my safe.

My stock AK's and 12 gauge pumps were the my least favorites to fire because of the harsh recoil. The AK's were much better after swapping out the stock buffer springs with some Wolff extra power springs.

Sure, but why do I need a gun now? Safe area, no time for another hobby, especially a sedentary one, and while the risk can be reduced, it's still an additional risk and something to worry about. If it's something I was using, then I would get and keep at home, but as things stand, it's all cost no benefit.

If this trend continues, GOP is going to be for gun control in no time.

If they're buying guns they are no longer liberals. They may be Democrats or socialists or Communists, but the title of liberal no longer applies. They can get it back once they sell all their firearms.

I like how anybody who doesn't agree with their twisted views is automatically labeled a liberal. If we apply their self defined standards even the Lord himself would be a flaming liberal for doing things like telling people not to hate or judge and to leave folks alone whom they don't agree with like the prostitute at the well that Jesus had to defend against the church who wanted to stone her to death.

You'd think at least of few of them would be able to remember 2000-2008, right?
Would you be referring to how the economy crashed and burned under Republican leadership? What about how it recovered under Democratic leadership? Geez some folks are short and closed minded unless the facts align with their very narrow world views.

So the government agenda is to actually arm its sheeple rather than take away their guns.

This is not a joke based on the actual facts.

I barely know you. Just a couple dozen posts in a forum.
