I wouldn't mind adding other words too, if people think they are overused. I doubt we could make it happen, but it would be nice if we could get the mods to institute a penalty to those who misused the words.

BTW, I think someone above accused me of being conservative (I might have misunderstood). Anyways, I'm not, I'm quite liberal in my ideals, but I stray from a few of their ideas.

There should be 4 terms used....

1. Bush supporters (2.5% of posters)
2. Rabid Kerry Haters (5% of posters)
3. Rabid Bush Haters (90% of posters)
4. kerry Supporters (2.5% of posters)

That should cover the spectrum getting rid of the the L/C, D/R labels.

Actually, I think it's the other way around. People resort to name-calling when they've run out of ammo. If name-calling is the best you can do, why are you even in the discussion? You say you don't like diversionary tactics... well, hauling out the name-calling is just one big fat diversion. It's an attempt to derail the discussion and it's lame... regardless of what the general sentiment on the board may be.

It's one thing to mention it now and then, especially when it's just in fun... but there are a few people here who rely on these terms as a foundation to their stance, and that's absurd.

I've seen you call people neocon at the drop of a hat and without any hint of religious sentiment on their part. Of course, not that having religious beliefs automatically makes you a neocon. You talk about "objectivity"? You should be handcuffed for defecating on the word.
