😵😵😵 OK... I can't take it anymore. What the hell is wrong with you people? Complaining about a sweet car like this but fawning over a fucking minivan?

Lexus LC500 complaints:

Oh, the grill is too big...
The interior is too brown...
It looks like a hideously overwrought and tortured piece of plastic...
The design language is too busy...

Meanwhile, in the minivan thread.

Handsfree door opening is a rather good idea...
Minivans make much more sense to me, or station wagons...
The plug-in hybrid is a great feature...
This looks pretty damn sweet...
The MPG in Hybrid mode looks impressive...

By the way, my wife wouldn't be caught dead owning or driving a minivan. She likes sporty cars... unlike you guys apparently. 😛

I am not a huge Lexus fan, but I think it looks fantastic also. Not sure about your choice of interior colors though, the dark beige isn't my favorite, a nice cream or dark grey would be my preference. But I don't like the red/tan Ferrari color that a lot of people prefer, so I may be the weird one there 😛

Overstyled. I like the broad strokes, but sometimes there's a reason concept cars look like concept cars. A few slight changes and I think this could be a really good looking car, as well as one much more likely to appeal to the wider public.

I'm softening on the Lexus grille. It's still god awful on the sedans, but on this and the new RX it's starting to grow on me

That interior is a few good things mixed with a few bad things to make it a mess overall. I dig the big slab of glass across the dash, but I have a feeling in the real world its gonna wind up messy. Those knobs coming out the side of the gauge cluster were stupid on the LFA and they're stupider now. Too many buttons on the wheel IMO. The color's not all that bad, but definitely not the one I would choose in the reveal to the public

I like the 5L NA V8, but I think it's now official that the tables have completely turned in regards to larger NA engines being torque-ier down low with broader power bands and the small turbo motors being high strung where you gotta get to 5000rpm and get v-tec to kick in yo before you get anywhere.

looks great. predator grill's best execution yet imo. I just wish that they introduced some new engines. the 1UR is getting long in the tooth. There is some hope though, notice how this isn't the F or F-sport model so there's room for them to introduce a more powerful engine later on...

the rear reminds me of the 1st gen SC300/400, even where the badging is located, which is pretty cool to me.

You're more of a minivan guy I guess? :sneaky:😛

No, I don't like Toyota's take on grills and haven't for quite a while. I personally own a Ford Focus that I love but I'm not wild about its grill either. The design ideas that too many car makers have seem to be predicated on the idea that cars must have the equivalent of your balls hanging out of your shorts! That is, cars must demonstrate they are masculine and what better way to do that than an acre of grill.

The interior/dash is sinfully ugly -- I mean putrid!

To the naysayers in this thread, just a reminder. The car looks like this:

"Shens!" you say. "Surely that is a concept car. I'm an idiot and I don't like the grill, but that is a concept car!" No, no it is not. That is the actual production car. It actually looks like that.

Car looks awesome except for the grill. I'm not saying I have any better ideas for the face, but that grill aint doin it for me.

For the record, that Chrysler minivan thread is embarrassing.

Yeah...it's almost like people have a different set of expectations for a $30,000 minivan versus a $100,000+ super car. It's almost like they're not comparable at all.

Fascinating.

😵 Who is comparing cars? I'm comparing comments from supposed car enthusiasts and I think it's ironic is all.

-Stunning

-Sexy

-A striking machine, and one with classic sports car proportions: long hood, low roofline, short boot.

-It’s hard not to be impressed with the LC 500.

-Lexus are finally putting their money where their mouths are when it comes to fast and interesting cars.

These are words Jalopnik used to describe the Lexus LC500.

And you dare call yourselves enthusiasts... 🙄 😛

Jalopnik: noun - jä-lŏp-ˈnik
1. a click-bait website.
2. a website with provocatively written headlines to drive non-substantive automotive themed articles with the net effect of increasing ad revenue.

Usage: I can't stand Jalopnik.

Beats me. He killed BMW for me as an option, much like these designers have killed Lexus for me. :\

I think the grill grows on you. It has me anyway because I too thought it looked a bit ridiculous when they first started doing this but they don't look bad to me now. My wife has a 2014 Lexus ES350 which I think looks good but even the new ones I think look good as does the latest IS and RX.

i actually like the grill (doesn't work on much else tho). it's just that the rest of the car is too damn busy. HEY LOOK AT ME! I'M OVER HERE AND I COST A BUNCH OF MONEY!
