Level grinding in Dragon Age?

I don't get it. What is the point of leveling up if all your enemies level up with you? I consider a lot of the side quests to be grinding. Also, I would consider looking for stuff for the codex and disarming traps to be grinding too.
 
Tactical options. Higher levels give you more abilities and spells, which enhance flexibility even if the enemies level up with.

Since most side quests have rewards, and several 'codex' entries become quests if you get the whole series, those are beyond simple grinding. Disarming traps serves a much more basic purpose of prevent it from blowing up on you.
 
AFAIK, that scaling applies to potions, gold and weapon/armor materials. So, at level 7 you'll find leather ancient elven armor, versus runed ancient elven armor at level 17.

But it only goes up to tier 7, and the bonuses don't change. Since you get tier 7 stuff at natural endgame levels anyway, you don't get any better stuff by being higher level.

Yes, but this argument defeats the pseudo-argument that your higher level will make enemies harder/higher level. Barring the use of console commands to boost your level, there is nothing with "grinding".

Personally, I would love to see more grinding opportunities (read: money-making opportunities) because I'm a merchant whore (I spent a little over 867 gold over the course of my 54% completed, 96% explored, 55-hour playthrough) and I wanted to buy all the really nice items (100gold+)... speaking of which, did anyone notice there were a lot of normal armors 10 gold and under, whereas a few items 100 gold + and really none in between?

People criticize modern MMOs for being grind-fests and bitch that they're nothing but grinding. So, a developer gives you a game that has no grinding and you bitch that there's no grinding.

What the hell's up with that?
 
The side quests are kinda of like grinding in a sense. But totally random enemies with no relevance other than as a purpose for levelling up? I don't miss those at all.

Oddly enough, I remember doing insane levelling in some older games like Final Fantasy 8 on PS1 and Secret of Mana on SNES. Old school games but I got my characters to near 'God-like' status in those games and loved it! I was of course much younger back then though so things are different now... I'd hate that type of grinding today.

You've just commited a logical fallacy.
You dont know the exact same people who complained about MMO's are the ones who now complain about quest-based XP in Dragon Age.
In fact, it stands to reason those are two COMPLETELY different groups of people.
