My computer is sitting upon an Ikea table that has been in use since 1988. It has been disassembled and reassembled at least eight times and has held up very well.

Bottom line if you want OK looking furniture on the cheap you really can't beat them.

Fairly nice designs and OK quality but mass produced from very cheap materials. It will look good so long as you don't go poking around it too much. Of course there is the whole take it home and built it yourself thing but that's actually one of the things I like the best about their stuff 🙂

Dont get anything that gets repetitive stress such as their beds or sofas. But everything else works damn well. The Jerker was the best desk ever and I have one of their big ass bookcases. I've also used several coffee tables, lamps, clocks. The stuff looks nice and is functional

They have solid wood beds. We had one, and it held up alright. It's not the nicest looking thing, but it met our only requirement - it didn't require a box spring. We couldn't fit our queen sized box spring up our stairs.

Our Ikea couch has also held up fine for 5 years.

Maybe my friends just suck at putting beds together then. One of my friends had a bed taht had drawers on the bottom and it was all misaligned by the time i helped him move that POS out of his room.

I bought some wooden furniture from ikea like tv stand and such. but for furniture, i bought from bob's discount. table from some store in the city and mattress directly from the manufacturer using a friend's employee discount for like 60% off =D

I miss ikea out in colorado...

i used to buy ikea all the time... good for some nice, disposable furniture that you don't want to spend alot on, but would also last for a bit..

i had my ikea book cases for years...
my computer desk too.

now i have a collection of different hex wrenches that i have no use for.

I currently work in an office furnished exclusively with Ikea furniture. I find it very comfy - much better than any other desks and offices I've worked in so far.
In fact, I furnished my wife's office with Ikea office furniture as well.

I love my Ikea Jerker desk. It's held up through four moves (completely dismantled and rebuilt) over six years. It doesn't show any wear on it either.

It's great for small places like city condos. However, if you own a house and you are not flipping it, I'd go there just for ideas.

And yes, Jerker was an awesome desk. My gf has the next version.....it's not as good.

I love Ikea. We have a bunch of their stuff in our house. Inexpensive but high quality. Can't beat that as long as you like the Modern style. Only problem is the closest one is 2+ hours away. Also a lof ot their little trinkety things are great too. Plus the 6pk of Cinnamon rolls at the end checkout area can't be beat.

everything is super easy to build too. The instructions just have these 2 fat sweedish guys that make everything simple : ).

Ikea is great for a lot of things. I do not like their couches and beds, but items like bookcases, tables, and desks are great. Also they are great to pick up other small items - for example when we go we stock up on tons of cheap but fun napkins for the kitchen.

I'm not sure what Ikea, Walmart, and the alike have that compel women to shop there. Ikea quality are just about as good as Walmart quality and their products are a small notch above Dollar Stores specials.

My sisters, ex, and friends wives spends boat load of money on highly uncomfortable & flimsy Ikea furniture.

Buy Ikea if you want to please your lady friends, but IMHO Sears is one of the best place to get relatively good quality furniture for your money.

Craig list is another great place to look for good used furniture if you don't have the cash.

There is your problem....you do not go to IKEA to just buy a couch...and as with sears, you get what you pay for. If you buy a $100 desk at sears, you'll get something worse than a $100 desk at IKEA. You go to IKEA usually for a room overhaul. The only reason to buy ikea for furniture is because you are on a really strict budget...like a college student budget.

IKEA is great if you love to take a day or two off to put all your shit together. We just bought: 3 dressers, 2 night stands, 3 beds, tv stand, desk & bookshelf, 2 work chairs, assorted other crap and it was a great deal. We have spent the past 3 nights after work putting shit together and are still not done yet. Great stuff if you have the patience and a another set of hands to help you assemble. Had I known they provided it, I'd have paid one of their contractors to come out and do this assembly. Maddening.

Yeah, I get tired of putting furniture together too. Ikea is decent stuff for the price, but get really tired of hex wrenches and the lock bolts etc.

I have a lot of Ikea stuff. Much from the As Is section, though that isn't as good a discount these days. I have Ikea furniture that's over 20 years old and still going strong - real wood, well made. These days the quality is hit-or-miss.
