I've had these: http://www.nightterrors.org/paralysis.html. Basically you feel like you are flying in the air and you can even open open your eyes, but you can't move at all. The first couple of times it scared the sh!t out of me, but more recently I have tried to enjoy it. It hasn't happened in several months though.

I've had the thing where when you wake up (mostly from a nap) you see the thing that most scares you on your bed or on you. In my case it's usually a spider or something. Sometimes I wake up, just kicking to get the damn thing off me, when in reality there is nothing there. Another related thing is perceiving an intruder by your bedside as you wake up. I have woken up kicking the "intruder" on the side of my bed. Of course there is really nothing there.

Eeshh, these are a few stories from my family or friends, all of whom i trust that they're not bullshitting me:

1) When i was about 4, my grandma, who lived with us, passed away. A few days after her passing, my mom found me crying in bed and couldn't get me to stop. After a good long while, I eventually stopped crying. She had asked me why i was crying, and i said that grandma was there holding me, and that she was there to say one final goodbye.

Something similar happened to me at 4.....
The night before my grandmother died I was in bed beside her talking like I did everynight. I had a quarter in my hands...having seen magic shows before i wondered if I could make it dissapear. So I sat there and rubbed my hands together with the quarter and it did indeed dissapear. I wondered where it went to and looked all around the bed, but of course I had my hands near the sheets anyway so it couldn't have gone far at all.

Later when I was going to my bed i went past the hall way and heard a sliding noise along the wooden floors for few seconds and then something hit my foot. It was the quarter!... I looked down the hallway and saw a greenish gas in the overall shape of a person. It freaked the crap out of me and I ran to bed.

Within the next week Me and my parents went out to the house to see why granny wasn't answering the phone. Mom and dad went in and found her and told me not to come into the room, so I stayed near the front door waiting and granny came around the corner and told me there was nothing to worry about and that everything will be ok and that she had to go now. I asked her not to leave but she said she had too and that I wouldn't see her again for a long while and then she went out the door.
My mom came out asking who I was talking too and I told her that it was granny.....they had found her passed away around the corner of the other room. As for the greenish apparition....my grandfather died before I was born. Maybe he was watching us that night......

in one of our old houses, I used to hear this creeking noise every night when I tried to go to sleep. it got so bad that I'd have to wear headphones with music blasting to pretend that it wasn't there so I could get to sleep.

I discovered a few years later that my mom had hung a potted plant in the attic with fishing wire. the sound was just the fishing line rubbing up against the plant holder as it swung in the breeze. I felt really stupid :p

yup, most of this super natural stuff is easily explained

I am glad you back up that statement with so much evidence!

I realize that this story has a religious theme to it and that not everyone on this board is religious, but I swear it is true:

Several years ago a few of my friends and I were over at another friend's house all jumping around on one of those giant trampolines. One of my friends had this cross necklace that meant a lot to him. He wore it all the time and never bothered to take it off before he got on the trampoline, and when we were finally done he noticed that the cross had come off the cord that was still around his neck. He started to freak out at first, so we all started searching the yard for it. The only problem was that he had a huge yard, the grass was fairly tall, and it was nighttime. We told him to just look for it tomorrow in the daytime, but he was insistant so we kept searching. Finally after no success he suggested we pray for it. We all gathered around an area of bare dirt near the edge of his yard and put our hands on the ground. He said a prayer asking for his cross back and when he was done, we all raised up our hands and saw the cross just sitting there in the dirt where our hands had been. The cross was made of hematite (shiny gray-silver metal) so I am certain it was not already there otherwise we would have noticed it immediately. We just kind of sat there staring in amazement for several minutes.

We did chase into the darkness a little ways until we had one of those "we are doing what the ppl in the horror movies do when they get killed" moments . .

We got back and thought about it. Here we were in the middle of nowhere in the woods, and not even a cricket was chirping. We suddenly realized everything was just a little too surreal.

We went back up and packed up and canoed through till morning. . .

The buffalo or the mulberry river? (if it is one of them)

The things people do in the movies... are somewhat attributable to real life tendencies. I know that if something looks suspicious, I'd want to check it out. Thinking it over, you're less likely to do (I wouldn't think I'd walk into a haunted house right now)... but if you're in the actual situation, you can think differently. One time we were just moving in to our apartment off-campus ... not in the best of neighborhoods... our door was cracked slightly open. I didn't know if it was one of us who didn't close it all the way or someone got in (we had boxes in there already)... and it was pretty dark out... you'd think I'd be smart enough not to go in there alone.. but what do I do... I go in there with just my pocket knife. It coulda been anyone in there... hiding with a bat... but my curiousity got the best of me and I took the risk. It's not a logical thing... it's just your curiousity and the adrenaline taking you in... it was fun though... cowboy up. Till this day, I don't know why the door was cracked open like that... nothing was missing...

I'm scared more by those recapitulating these stories than by the stories themselves. To know that so many people attribute so many things to the supernatural is truly frightening.

I had a dream when I was a kid...my mom was sitting in an airplane seat looking out the window overlooking a city at night....I didn't see myself in the dream only my mother.....when I woke up I asked my mom about the dream and she FREAKED!.....at that time I've never been on an airplane and have never left Taiwan.....it seems that when she was pregnate with me, she took a vacation to Japan and she never told me about it....so it seem like the images that she saw somehow transfered durning the pregnacy and there was some residual imprints......unless I have ESP (highly unlikely)

Weird.. I have the EXACT same story, except that my dad was the pilot, we hit a huge storm and had to land in a farmer field. I have vivid memory of that, it happened when my mom was pregnant with me.

One creepy incident happened to me when I was 16 (25 now). I remember it was a Sunday afternoon at home bored. So I decided to lay in my bed and just veg. I was laying down facing the door (closed) of my room thinking what I should do for the rest of the day. Suddenly my door creeped open and I saw a kid around 6-8 years old peeking in at me. We made eye contact and all of a sudden the kid closed my door slowly. I got up immediately and thinking my cousins were over to visit (they are around that same age). I walked to the living room saw my mom sitting quietly reading the newspaper and I asked "wheres aunt? (thinking my aunts and cousins were over)" She replied "they're not here." And then I asked "who was that kid then?" She replied "What kid???" I searched around the house, to see where that kid go and from this day, I have no idea who that person was!!!!

Im my humble opinion, people deal with innexplicable information and events in one of three ways.

- Denial due to lack of logical explanation and in turn suppression.
- Attributing to ghosts, demons, spirits, aliens, or other commonly assumed "supernatural" explanations.

The third to me is most rational, which is that when something inexplicable happens be it the result of some unknown with a scientific explanation as of yet not understood, (brain chemistry, hallucination, electromagnetic fields, fabrics of shared human consciousness, religious intervention, etc) the information is just relayed as it was perceived.

Logically inexplicable by our current understanding of the world around us, perhaps, but to me it is not perpetuating mysticism to tell of experiences perceived that are not explainable. People who are so fond of spewing that idea that there is some scientific reason behind everything and that any other speculation is ludicrous are just regurgitating garbage themselves, as they offer no more rational an explantation. Obviously there is a scientific explanation to everything, as everything in this universe that we observe operates by a set of rules not entirely understood today, but to rule out all the seemingly immpossible speculations that are deemed "supernatural" when we do not even have a complete understanding of human brain chemistry and it's sensory relation to the world around us is myopic. Perhaps some people would rather use science to shield themselves from the unknown rather than to explain it.

mom's death

don't know what it was. she had been battling cancer for some time and I would visit every night.

I'm the kind of person who will never leave work. I'm there all the time and am viewed as a rock.

On 12/30/03 at around 11:00 AM I had a strong yearning for my mother...something pulling me to her with a force that cannot be denied no matter how much I tried to put it out of my mind. My mind and heart just kept saying "you must go to her, you must go to her NOW"

I immediately walked to my boss's office and said "I have to go. Its mom. Its her time. I have to go NOW."

Boss said "but you said she was doing OK."

"no, you don't understand. she's leaving this earth and I'm going to be with her when she does."

I drove at a pace that could have got me into jail at 100 mph+.

My mother passed shortly after in her home, in my arms and the arms of my father and her best friend that day and I am so glad that I was there with her as she left this earth.

I love you so much mom and I miss you so very much.

So yes. For me there are definately things in this world that we cannot and will never understand.

I stayed in this house in Wales with this wonderful family several years ago...every now and then, their dog, a full grown german shepard, would suddenly become very affraid and whimper and back around the house with it tail between it legs. The family said that sometimes the ddog would piss on floor it got so scared. They did also relate that sometimes they would here "bumps in the night" but nothing much worse.

Well, here is the kicker...the house was built using stones taken from the ruins of an old church in town. Apparently several of their neighbors whose homes also contain church stones also report weird activity and whatnot.

Regarding UFOs, I recently read an article by Chuck Colson. He writes that for every x number of UFO sightings, only some small percentage are not explainable by (insert random flying object here). Of these, the main theme that connects the sightings is that the people who see the 'UFOs' are involved in occultic activities, while others with them aren't affected at all. These are NOT benign objects either; they cause physical harm on occasion. They are not real, physical objects either. Some have been recorded on radar and film, and they do impossible things like turning, starting, and stopping instantly. Not physical, unfriendly, appearing only to those that invite them via occultic practices: the conclusion is they are demons. I truly believe that living in the USA (as I do) these things aren't as common as they are in eastern/third world nations due to the dominance of Christianity. In nations such as India and Haiti on the other hand where voodoo and pagan rituals are common, these types of 'supernatural activities' are MUCH more common. The moral of the story is that there is a supernatural realm, and we are involved in a battle not of this world but with the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (see Ephesians 6:10 and following). If you are trying to communicate with demons and the like, you may be all too likely to succeed and probably won't like it.

Here's my story

I was like about 6-7 years old and I woke up late my night to go to the bathroom. I got out of my bed motionlessly and yawning endlessly but my bladder was telling me, "It's time for you to release the piss" so I start walking towards the bathroom and I am like half a sleep at the time. I release my fluid into the toilet like a dying waterfall. I wash my hand and turn off the lights as I head out. But as I head out, I straight ahead and there is this figure I couldn't make out and it freaked the shizzles out of me. I ran towards it screaming in terror and realized it was my grandma coming up the stairs also to use the bathroom. Man, it was like totally unexpected and she scared me shitless...
