Man so much positivity in this thread *shudders* it's time for some counter-balance:
- Total absence of banking secrecy
The flip side to that being the ease at which corrupt and immoral people can hide their ill-gotten wealth in Swiss banks. At least here a drug kingpin, mafia boss, or contract killer stands a chance of having their funds confiscated.
The other flip side is that you have no privacy in your own country. Mafia bosses and so on do have ways to hide their money either it's money laundering or Zurich accounts. This only helps us catch the dumb ones that don't really know sht. Meanwhile the entire American public gets screwed.
Also this means that corrupt government officials have access to your bank account, that is scarier than anything.

There is some of this, but we're nowhere NEAR the top of the list.
Also, tasing's not anywhere near as big a deal as the media thinks.
Tasing is a big deal. Cops need to think a million times before they use their guns, however they only have to blink before tasing someone. The consequences on the victim are tragic but since he isn't dead the cops get away with it. It's inhumane as much as putting a victim in between 4 cops kicking the sht out of him is inhumane, especially when the victim isn't a physical threat.

It's getting better and better. In all areas.
The only way they can get better IMO is if they let the Germans do it for them. Pontiac has already let Holden of Australia which (they own) make their GTO which proved to be a huge success also the G8 is going to be one too.

Highest population maybe. Highest percentage is probably somewhere in the ME, like Dubai.

Dude that is an OIL producing country in the middle of the freaking DESERT 2 perfect excuses for an SUV!
2 Excuses we lack over here(well for the most part)! Have you ever been there? Money is raining all over the fscking place.

There's a certain amount of this in any wealthy nation (Europe avoids it by providing an amazing train system and taxing the everloving $&*^# out of gasoline), but yeah.

Which is smart, really smart. It lessens the pollution and only those who need a bigger vehicle use a bigger vehicle. A guy driving a Ford Excursion / Ram 1500/ Ford 150 / Hummer / GMC Envoy /....etc to work / school would be labeled dumbass everywhere he goes, putting the social pressure on him to put away his stupid toy and get a real transportation means.Pluspublic transportation is a joke in the states (overall)!

In terms of overall influence, yeah. But there are plenty of worse examples in smaller, less powerful nations.
Ya but it's the one with most overall impact on everyone else in the world, that's why it takes the cake.

Piercings and Pot smoking aren't harmless in my book.

One is stupid, might cause life threatening infections and is a visual pollution factor. The other is dangerous both visually and odorously(and that's the hippies not the pot

)!

Still better than many other first-world countries.
And still a really bad thing. I am not going to raise any future children of mine in here TBH, I'll do what my parents (God bless them) did and wait till I became 16 to bring me here.

Better than Canada, from everything I understand.
Dude screw Canada (No offense Skoorb??

), look at Europe half of what American companies do here would get them shutdown in Europe.
That's in addition to that they get us the worst phones out there, meanwhile in Europe they get the cream of the pie.

The phones? They're better than other phones, since they're small and you can actually put them in your pocket without buttons getting pressed.
And then some companies go ahead and put buttons on the outside...go figure:roll:
They are ugly and an abomination for cell phones. Everytime I here someone clicking them I feel like going for their spleen!

- Microsoft : self explanatory
It's a double-edged sword, but it did help usher in the information age. Now largely defanged and superceded by better-quality freeware, so what's the beef?
The beef is that it's a company that produces inferior products to their competitors and mainly remain in power through illegal, monopolistic, anti-completive means and locking people into proprietary formats and data. And have remained in power mainly due to our weak legislations on the matter!
Just look at how EU treats Microsoft every time it gets out of line and tries to push things around BAM it gets the whip and pays the price (and that applies the same way to many European companies that step out of line). Had we had legislations like the EU did when we Microsoft first started, we would have had a healthy market now where companies are creative productive and play it fair and by the books, giving consumers a say and an option.

America gets bad press for this, but honestly most countries are pretty bad. A German probably gets about as much Ugandan news as we in America get German news. Think that the Germans know a lot about Uganda?

Overall Europeans are better informed about world affairs than American are, and that's world affairs that matters that is.
