ron dayne was a piece of crap runner in college and he always will be a piece of crap runner in the nfl.

Bye Dayne you useless piece of crap! Thunder and lightning my ass, more like mouse fart and lightning!

Actually he was good in college, but defenses in the NFL are quicker and exposed his lack of speed to the hole. He'll never be a Tyrone Wheatley!

They paid that long snapper $44k to muff 2 snaps? Why didn't they just let Bober snap. I hope the Giants kick Junkins ass on the flight back.

Fire Fassel. I've hated him from the beginning, and this simply proves his incompetence. Choked under the pressure, and it was inexcusable how little control his team displayed in the fourth quarter. Come on Williams, let Owens give you fifteen! What was even worse was that the power in my area went down at around 2, so I missed the early game and only saw the Giants implode in the fourth quarter. Damn it, fire Fassel! :disgust:

This is a joke, right? If not for Fassel's play calling, you wouldn't have made the playoofs by a long shot. Those fights at the end did not cost the Giants the game. The game was lost because the Giants D and special teams thought they were the Colts.

I am staying away from sports radio for a week after that game.

This comment would have been laughable when Wheatley was a Giant. He was more incompotent than Dayne.

If anybody was watching the commercials of the game...

5 seconds is an eternity

Aikman to Irvin
Montana to Clark

Placekicker to ineligible man down field🙂

woooo ... gooo niners.

no huddle offense jacked the giant's defense.
Strahan didn't get a single wiff of Garcia's hair all game.

After the touchdown late 3rd quarter and the ensuing plays got me going. Heart was pounding and pounding. Amazing game.
THe shanked FG got me relied up and every 1st down had me screaming. Hell, i held my breathe on the niners 4-1 play. Damn that was a good game.

Saturday turned up 2 terrible games.
Sunday turned up 2 fantastic games.

Bring on the Bucs and Gruden. I'm scared of Gruden, damn fine coach he is.

Damn good game... Too bad the Giants lost 🙁.

I dont think the Giants are going to fire Fassel because of the turnaround to get them into the playoffs. Hopefully this will be a lesson for them to fix some things:
1.) Too bad their salary cap situation wasnt solved earlier so they could have kept Morten Anderson
2.) Side note to #1 they still would have needed a better long snapper.
3.) Get a better punter... Get rid of Allen, Bryant I dont know they need consistent snapping.
4.) Player temperament- I mean cmon Hello Shaun Williams... you should have kept your cool and taken the 15 especially after blowing it the first time.
5.) After seeing Owens start things not once but twice as the instigator, once for taunting? and the second for the late hit which Shaun Williams retaliated for, cept the second one was for Will Allen. Both of them should have been thrown out not just Williams for retaliating. I dont care if you're God theres no place in football for that crap.
6.) Game knowledge? Allen could have spiked the ball since it was 3rd down to get another kick.
7.) They need to draft a DE or DT cause they arent getting even pressure, even if Hamiliton didnt get hurt they need to get younger.
8.) Maybe draft a 3rd corner cause Sehorn is big but slower not, whereas Allen and Peterson have good speed but Owen out-muscled them. Same with the linebacker spot they need to get faster.
9.) Get rid of Dayne? Hes taking up a roster spot.
10.) They need to get a better scheme(or better players) against these mobile quarterbacks, they're getting killed.

Things that went well
1.) O-line better job than anyone could have expected. With their 3rd rounder Hatch(I think?) out all year?
2.) Shockey is better than anyone could have anticipated.
3.) Toomer is solid. Same with Barber
4.) Collins starting to get some consistentcy in his career hopefully that continues.

I heard on the radio last night (WFAN), that Allen has better knowledge than all of us. Turns out the rule is that you cannot spike a long snap, it would be ruled intentional grounding. The only thing he can do is to run from the pocket position and throw it away.

I wasn't the one who posted that comment. I suggest you edit your post to a quotation that's actually mine 😉

My post was "Actually he was good in college, but defenses in the NFL are quicker and exposed his lack of speed to the hole. He'll never be a Tyrone Wheatley!"

Yeah Wheatley sucked when he was with the Giants, and he is not a great runner now imo. But he has better weapons around him now and he is still good around the goalline, which is why the Raiders keep him.

Wasn't it already 4th down?

Is that true on long snaps?

It was not 4th down. And from what I heard, that's the rule. I didn't know it either, I was screaming for him to spike it.

No, it was 3rd down when Giants attempted a field goal.

I don't know about long snaps whether you could spike the ball to kill the clock or not.

Ahhh... well then the Fox commentators better get their rules right.

Giants should have got another shot:

ESPN--

The San Francisco 49ers' 24-point comeback victory over the New York Giants ended with an officiating error.

The NFL said Monday that pass interference should have been called against the 49ers on the final play of the 39-38 thriller.

A botched field-goal attempt by the Giants ended Sunday's game, when New York was called for having an ineligible receiver downfield while holder Matt Allen attempted a pass. However, the league said that the pass interference that was ignored would have resulted in a replay of the down.

After a videotape review of the 41-yard attempt with six seconds left, NFL Director of Officiating Mike Pereira determined:

The Giants' Tam Hopkins, No. 65, lined up as the left guard and was illegally downfield on the pass. All three flags thrown by the officials were for that penalty.

Rich Seubert, No. 69 and normally a guard, lined up as an eligible receiver on the play. He reported to the officiating crew before the game that he would man that position on field goals.

49ers defensive end Chike Okeafor interfered with Seubert when he was attempting to catch Allen's pass. No defensive pass interference penalty was called.

"If defensive pass interference had been called,'' an NFL statement explained, "there would have been offsetting penalties (ineligible receiver against the Giants and pass interference against the 49ers), with the down replayed at the original line of scrimmage, the San Francisco 23-yard line. Although time had expired, a game cannot end with offsetting penalties. Thus, the game would have been extended by one untimed down.''

Allen could not have spiked the botched snap, because it was a long snap. Pereira said the only time a player can spike the ball is when he takes the ball directly from the center.

Matt Bryant lined up to try the potential game-winning field goal, and the snap from newly signed Trey Junkin was in the dirt. Allen fumbled the ball, then made the desperation pass downfield to Seubert.

Fox commentator Cris Collinsworth said during the broadcast that, because it was third down, Allen could have spiked the ball, giving the Giants another chance at a kick. Afterward, on the Fox postgame show, other commentators agreed.

Pereira said the only other option would have been to throw to an eligible receiver.

Well, what ever happened, the Giants will have the entire offseason to think on it....

HAHA

Yeah. I cant imagine what Trey Junkin feels like. A 19 year vet, he messed up only 3 snaps in his entire career! The Giants signed him out retirement because their previous special teams couldnt snap the ball. What a bummer.

EDIT: These were his comments when he was signed: "I was watching all these bad snaps and wondering: 'How many games are you going to lose over a snap?' It was frustrating," Junkin said.
