Even if you arent much of a web-designer, but have some background.... honestly, how long would this take you, how much would a "project" like this cost and what would you rate the "quality" and "expertise", from 1-10? 1 being GREAT, and 10 being CRAPPY

Background Info:
The guy had the Davis High School logo, and the "D"'s that you see on the two sides, and the information.

http://www.goldplating.com/darger/greenwood/home.htm

Also, please notice the difference change from home.htm, index.htm, multimedia2.htm.

I will tell the story behind it all after I get some feedback on it. (BTW, i didn't design this, or hire it out.......... SOMEBODY ELSE DID!! )

why not just have the middle part refresh/change instead of the whole page for when you click on the computertech, multimedia I and II?

edit: its not the worst ive ever seen. i give it a 3

Fairly nice design... I don't think it would take long at all, if you knew what you were doing. Nothing too complicated there. Just a few tables. Well done though, except the left and right sides are the same... redundant. Plus, I'd have put Multimedia I ahead of II. I like sequential things in order :)

That would involve using frames, wouldn't it?

edit - also, what are iframes?

I'll give:

Aesthetic - 4/10
Layout - 1/10

The use of frames really take the layout score down.

1 is the best? That's weird. Usually when rating on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 is usally the best and 1 is the worst.

Wow it took me a while to realize that I was looking at an actual webpage, not just a screenshot of a webpage. Why in the world is there so much white space?

Depending on how much time is spent each day working on the page, I would venture to guess that the average time to make a webpage like that is around 2 weeks. I have no idea what something like that would cost.

I personally prefer simpler designs. Thus I don't like that design very much. My opinion can be summed up in one sentence: cut off the entire top half of the webpage and get rid of the white space all around.

So on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best, I'll give it a 6.5. Aesthetically it's not my cup of tea, and functionally it's less than ideal. But I've seen a lot worse.

Shouldn't take more than 10 hours of time to make this..
I like the look and the layout, white space on web pages is actually a good thing. The functionality is straightforward he only made a few html pages, but with a number of links from what I can tell.

Too much wasted vertical space, banner/graphics are taking up a ridiculous amount of space. I'm viewing @ 1280x1024 and I still have to scroll, and this is for a page that has minimal amount of content.

If I turned it a "project" like this, I'd probably get fired. Forget about paying, I rate "quality" and "expertise" as CRAPPY, so I guess a 10 on your backwards scale.

the real kicker is the title of the page being "home.gif"

not bad for HS'lers actually... but I guess it just means I'm getting old and kids these days grow up with technology a lot faster... I'd say a 4.

Visual = 20/30
Functional = 10/30
Usable = 5/40

Total Score = 35/100 = F

that's how grades go on all my projects at school. Except usually not with the "F"'s

So if you wanted a 10 point scale, you could say 3.5 out of 10.

BTW, The graphics could be made in about an hour or less, the coding could be done in about 3. 4 hours of work, since the info was provided. As far as how much would I pay for that? I would one dollar, and that would because I would put as much time into fixing it into something usable as the person put into an initial design...

There was probably a bit less work involved because the person used dreamweaver, while I code by hand.

I would bet that someone stupidly paid $150 for this website.

In complete honesty, I would say that the previous website (Here) Is better.

It's about average. Not the best, pretty klunky, has potential though.

I'm pretty certain they charge at least 2 grand. maybe as much as five.

The real monwy maker is for lawfirms, doctors and the like. Anybody who still views web-design as "magic" will pay you a fortune for crap.

There is too much crap at the top of the main page... I have to scroll down a little to see info each time I click a link.
