They barely beat Dallas and didn't do well against the Jags. There is still more than enough time left in the season for a team to hit its stride and run deep into the playoffs. Remember, you guaranteed victory against the Ravens last year and look what happened.
You're really going to bring that up when I ask you who you see as competition for the Broncos? By week 6 you should at least have some idea on who its going to be, since you were the one that said it.
Most people would agree that the Broncos should have won against the Ravens last year, even if it is entirely irrelevant to the here and now.
I just don't see any team in the AFC except maybe the Colts, and that is why I was wondering if you believe the Colts will be the main competition come playoffs, or if you're one of those that believe in the Chiefs, or if you have another favorite.
You have to remember that the Colts turned over something like 70% of their roster between Manning's last year and Luck's first year. They completely tore the team apart and there were lots of holes to fill. They chose to address many of the needs in the draft (Fleener, Allen, Hilton, Ballard). Of that group, the one I'd say is disappointing is Fleener and it does hurt that Allen is out this year.
DHB is a project and was definitely worth signing. There wasn't much to lose but tons of upside.
You're being a little cocky there AMDZen -- remember, if it weren't for Manning, the Broncos would be hovering between 7-9 and 10-6 and going nowhere.
I personally think the biggest offensive issue the Colts have (outside of their inconsistent line play) is the new scheme is restricting Luck too much. They need to let him air it out more.
I am being cocky because I think DHB is a terrible player? He has zero upside and is nothing but a liability on your offense. IMO of course.
Of course if it weren't for Manning we wouldn't be where we are, that goes without saying. And it's also completely irrelevant. If the Colts weren't lucky enough to just happen to have a #1 pick again when the best prospect since Manning was available, the Colts would be fighting with Jacksonville for another 1st overall this year.
You were lucky to get Luck.
The Broncos were also lucky to get Manning.
Both franchises are currently happy. And the game should be good. You have to admit though, a performance like last night is just abysmal. It made the Broncos lackluster play against Jax look like a bunch of rock stars in comparison. I expect both teams to be at the top of their game for primetime though, and it should be a good game.
