Good choice! I have a GTX 670 FTW and love it. Its quiet and boosts to 1197mhz. It basically has the same performance as a reference 680 without the hefty price tag. I will be SLIing once these hit in the $300's later this year.
Well, the core clock speed is impressive from the factory but look at that memory. It's stock 6008Mhz. Most of the big performance gains come from the memory clock speed. They could have bumped that up some like EVGA did with their card.
lol did anyone see this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130785
EVGA GTX 670 SC is $484?!
OP I wanna know how this card compares to your overclocked 7850.
Adam smart move. I almost wish that was available when I bought my GTX 680.Long story short...
Came into some extra cash. Impulse bought a Galaxy 680 OC. After considering costs, etc... and plans to eventually go SLI, I decided the better deal was the EVGA 670 FTW version that blows out back of the case for when I eventually go SLI.
Thanks and sorry for the silly thread!
Overclocked 7850 gets beaten down by a stock 670. Even at 1300 core there is no comparison
well right of the box, the gtx670 ftw card is basically dead even with a gtx680 in games. that puts it about 70% faster than a stock 7850. even if you oc the snot out of the 7850 and it happened to scale perfectly the stock gtx670 ftw card would still be quite a bit faster.OP I wanna know how this card compares to your overclocked 7850.
How badly though? If it's only 15% then that's not bad.
That's pretty good then. Those cards are out of my league, though. Ever since I paid close to $400 for my 8800GTS I've resolved to never spend that much on a GPU again. Even $230 for the 7850 was pushing it for me.In 3dmark my best graphics score for my 1310 core 7850 was 7419. My 1285 boost core 670 pulled 9824. Thats a hair under 33% faster
just think if things had panned out differently that level of performance would have been around $250. it does sort of make me feel sick paying $420 bucks for a gpu like this because I know the resale value is going to plummet. heck I cant even get rid of my gtx570 for 215 bucks. That's pretty good then. I've become a very casual enthusiast as I get older.

mine is a non reference cooler though. and the point was that I cant get $215 for a card that was normally retailing for $350 when it came out. I have a feeling the gtx670 will keep much less of its value in 6 or 7 months than even the gtx570 cards.Thats because ur GTX 570 is being sold brand new for $250 on newegg!

I know its not an investment but I hate to pay top dollar and lose even more money. not to mention the gtx670 is the smallest upgrade I have ever had while also being the most expensive by far.Since when do we buy video cards as an investment? If they held their value it would mean there was no progress.
List your card at $190 shipped and I'm sure it will sell. Price is the key.

When it's 1.5 years old (as the 570 model line is today), the 670 will be going for ~$250 as well. All the better to SLI with!
I am talking about paying top dollar for the gtx670 not the gtx570. I got a good deal on the gtx570 and on my previous gtx260.Oh, come on! You were bragging about what a good deal you got on that Galaxy 570 until you bought your 670. Do you need me to remind you what you paid for your 570?
Truth is, you bought it long after the 570 was introduced, and got it at a steep discount. There's no comparison to buying the next-gen card the week it was introduced. Just be glad you got the FTW edition, which seems to be the one to buy. You still got nearly a 50% speed improvement, which is a legitimate upgrade.
Actually, the most amazing thing is that the 570 still sells for about what you paid for it however many months ago that was: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...CE&PageSize=20
