Long story short...

Came into some extra cash. Impulse bought a Galaxy 680 OC. After considering costs, etc... and plans to eventually go SLI, I decided the better deal was the EVGA 670 FTW version that blows out back of the case for when I eventually go SLI.

Thanks and sorry for the silly thread!

Wish the card was reference design so I could put my blocks on them. I would sell the ones I have to get a pair if they were.

Yes, I enjoy making my rig look nice as well as play nice :D White ones would of gone perfectly with my hose and black full cover blocks :(

Well, the core clock speed is impressive from the factory but look at that memory. It's stock 6008Mhz. Most of the big performance gains come from the memory clock speed. They could have bumped that up some like EVGA did with their card.

lol did anyone see this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130785

EVGA GTX 670 SC is $484?!

Worth the $50 premium over reference?

This has two 8 pins too

I'm not sure it'll draw that much power to necessitate 2x 8pin. I mean, people are overclocking their cards with 1x 8pin and 1x 6 pin to these levels. I don't know...I'm no engineer, but the headroom isn't there due to locked down voltage.

Seen a lot of rumors that this card has voltage unlocked.

Until that is confirmed by a reputable source (i.e not newegg reviews and fudzilla lol) I wouldn't put much faith in it. I would have thought they would advertise this feature all over if true.

I can get 1450MHz on 8+6 and unlocked voltage, so unless this card has it unlocked too, 8+8 doesn't mean much.

The card looks nice, especially if it fits the theme of your case. Not to mention Newegg shows a stock clock of 1202 and a boost clock of 1267, which in reality means you'll be boosting to 1300+. It's not a bad deal if you're looking for high clock potential, and it'd be awesome if voltage is adjustable.

Cancelled it.

I have a tenancy of making impulse decisions.

I think a 670 may actually make more sense value wise. Going to do some reviewing tonight.

How well would a 5970+5870 Trifire combo work at 1080p compared to a 670/680?

There is no reason to even consider sinking money into the 5 series cards these days especially 1GB cards

overclocked 670 = overclocked 5870's in crossfire

The 670 is like 7% slower than a 680 and costs $100.00 less. It's definitely the way to go for 1080p gaming.

No plans to. Was just curious.

I'm pretty much set on a 670 or 680, just looking for which one.

I can pretty much get any 670 I want right now. The two that look the best to me are the Asus Direct CU II Model, or the EVGA FTW model.

I can also get the Galaxy SOC 680, Galaxy 680 Ref, or the PNY 680 Ref design cards. I don't see any other 680's in stock right now in Canada.

End Result.. I plan to go SLI eventually. After reading a few reviews, it seems the SLI performance of the 670 compared to 680 SLI is a way better value.

I ordered a EVGA FTW 670 due to the blower fan and 680 PCB. The Asus also has a 680 PCB, but the custom cooler may not be ideal once I go SLI.

Look forward to the card in a couple days, will stay posted. Sorry about the silly thread.

Will stick with the 670 now. I should have just waited on the 670 rather than going 7850 a couple months ago, since I generally go high end.
