Much better chance than me seeing it in New York City 🙁

Actually, last year in Brooklyn (prospect park) we saw tons of meteors. Just find a roof or park and a jacket. Should be cool. Hope the weather cooperates.

Just setup my low light ccd camera on my roof pointed skyward towards the east. Have the puppy plug into my Replay TV to record from 11 till dawn. Hope to catch a falling star :>
Good nite y'all

I hope this Leonid meteor shower is worth waking up at 4 am.
I'm going to try and tape it.

Thanks stndn for that link. 🙂

And thank you to the Mods for not locking this until the Leonid shower is over in the morning. 🙂

java appelet not working for me. can someone just tell me where i should be looking? i'm in san diego.

Peak time there should be about 2:30 am.
Find a clear view to the east. Look towards Leo if you know where that is.

Have your back to the moon and you'll be facing the radiant, as well as block as much moon light as possible. Leo looks like a backwards question mark.

It rained 2 years ago. It rained last year. It's raining RIGHT NOW. I am truly cursed. Well, I'll stay up a few more hours and hope for the best. :|:|:|:|

UPDATE!: Sky cleared up (mostly) at around 4 AM, although it was still hazy. I saw a bunch of shooting stars. Reminded me of that Warcraft 3 Beeyatch.

Totally cool.

I'm up. I heard that 5:30 A.M. here on the East coast should be an opportune time to see the shower. With it being 20 minutes away from that time, I'm heading out to see what I can see.

Oh, is there any place where I could "price match" this deal? Would they accept competitior's coupons?

I'm about an hour north of Roanoke, Va and it was wonderful. They were calling for clouds but there wasn't a single one in the sky. I just laid down in my driveway and it came in spurts. Most we saw in one minute was 17. Best I've seen by far.

It seemed sort of sparse here in LA, though I can only see the north due to obstructions... Since peak time is now, I am going to check it out some more.

Congratulations to everyone that saw it. Too cloudy here, can't see any stars, so luck wasn't with me this year.

Kind of makes you wonder how anyone can witness something like this, and stil think we came from a big explosion, huh?

Back to bed, goodnight AT.

just came back in from outside...didnt see anything at all 🙁 (NYC)....too cloudy and hazy to see much....i wont see something like this for a whole 90 yrs...o well back to sleep!

yeah, not much here in san diego. one of those times it sucks to be in a big city, lights drown out the whole sky.

well got up at 4 for nothing....Drove out to the country and found a good spot, but it was way too cloudy. We saw maybe 5 the whole two hours I was out there.
