BTW-If you haven't seen 'World's Fastest Indian' with Anthony Hopkins I'd recommend you check it out. It's a good movie.

is it about Narien Karthikeyan??, i havent seen that yet but if you recommend then i think i am gonna have a look at it.

Indian here refers to native american.

Actually, it refers to a motorcycle.

BTW-Narain is still a test driver for Williams if I'm not mistaken right?

i think he has dumped Williams, he was involved in lot of conflicts with them for a long time before dumping them i believe!!

IMO, Blood Diamond was the best movie this year.

I've seen a lot of criticism about his 'fake' African accent.. but I really thought he personified the 'whiteguy from Africa' accent really well.

Awesome performance.. And I think the guy's a wanker.

Funny part is I was a fan of his long before he did Titanic and became a teen bop idol. I'd seen him in "This Boy's Life" with Robert DiNero and "Basketball Diaries" where he played a heroin addict. After Titanic came out I pretty much avoided going to the theater to watch any of his stuff since it required enduring hearing teen girls squeal and chirp when he first comes on screen. Sounds like I might have to check out some of his more recent stuff. Blood Diamond, The Aviator, any others? Watched The Beach and wasn't too impressed....probably the cheesy scene where it's meant to look like he's gone crazy and thinks he's in a video game in the jungle (just didn't work for me).

I think he's a good actor. hated Titantic but I remember some of his early stuff and surprised he grew up to be quite an actor. I know I thought he was a loser in Growing Pains.

I liked him in Catch me if you can. Haven't seen any of his recent films though.

Talk sh!t about him all you want, but he's a terrific actor.

I concur. I was always hesitant to like him because of his pretty-boy image (stemming from Titanic), but I realized I've enjoyed his acting in every movie I've seen him in.

Catch Me if You Can
Romeo and Juliet
The Departed
Gangs of New York
Aviator

(in that order)

don't forget What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

Amazing film - http://imdb.com/title/tt0108550/
Johnny Depp is in it as well. All around a great movie from 1993

He was a damn fine actor before Titanic. I was worried that that flick, and the image that was attached to him as a result would ruin him. I refuse to watch that version of Romeo and Juliet (why do it after Zeferreli?), but all of those are damn fine flicks, and show how good he is.

this is the perception of everyone that was aware of DiCaprio long before Titanic.
NissanGurl, you owe it to yourself to check out "Catch Me if You Can," "Gangs of New York," (but you have to stomach Diaz for that...) and the "Aviator." Esp. Aviator. I have yet to see Blood Diamond, but have been wanting too since the earlier previews...He's great in The Departed as well.

As for the minor Cruise vs DiCaprio discussion...Scorsese called Leo one of the finest actors he's ever worked with; and hopes to work with him for many more years. You'll never ehar him say that about Tommy boy. I'm not sure what his perception was after "The Color of Money," but he hasn't worked with him since...and you can take Scorsese's opnions regarding talent and film to the bank. 😉

The Departed, Gangs of New York, Catch Me if You Can...those are the more recent movie.

The aviator might change your opinion of him - it was a strong role that was carried by his performance and effort to 'be' howard hughes, which I thought was very difficult yet he did an outstanding job.

He's far from the 'former child teeny bopper actor now punk alcoholic druggie' person that I first thought he was destined for a few years ago. I think his 'desire' to be a great actor is evident by how much he gets into his characters in the varied roles he takes on. Whether or not he's looked at as 'great' years from now remains to be seen, but its nice to see the route he's taken.

name one movie he wasn't good in since Titanic?

he was great in:
The quick and the dead
Titanic
The man in the iron mask
the beach
gangs of new york
catch me if you can
the aviator
the departed
blood diamond

he was always good, people are just now realizing it because he's done departed and blood diamond. I always thought he was good at what he does.

I hated Titanic, but it wasn't because of him....the whole movie was stupid.....including Celine Dion.

Leo is gifted. He'll get recognition as time goes on. He's too good not to.

I must be one of the few heterosexual males who thought he was good in Titanic. And I've liked his performance in just about every movie he's done (especially Departed and Aviator). Definitely one of Hollywood's best.

Haven't seen Blood Diamond yet. Seemed a little too politically trendy. I guess I'll have to watch it.

Blood Diamond was a terrific, Oscar-worthy performance by Leo.

this years oscar was tough, i would not have been able to make a decision between Forrest or Leo. both were awesome.
