It sounds like she admits it was his though, so I don't think it'll be a problem. She's just claiming ownership based on one year of possesion.

call the police and report her for thieft.

first send her ceritified letters demanding it back. get her on tape saying it is yours (such as have rher call you back about it and let the machine record it) etc.

i have a solution, pay someone to steal her computer then swap the cases and throw away/sell the old case.

tell her you got a new computer because she wouldn't give it back.

heh, possesion is 9/10s of the law.

You may be out of a computer.

her at small claims court - "He gave it to me as a gift, I mean I've had it for over a year."

Slash her ties and smash in her car windows. That's probably close to $1200 worth of damage, if not head to her home and make it personal.

Never mix friendship/family and business.

I doubt the police will do anything since her obvious defense will be that you gave her the computer in return for editing services she performed. You're looking at small claims court if you ever want to see it again. Either pencil in a date at your local courthouse or chalk it up to a lesson learned, and move on with life. for you.

This is why he needs to record the conversation of her saying what was said in the OP.

In this day and age, that's a very stupid thing to do.

Girl: He attempted to rape me (or some other nonsense)

The OP was dumb enough to loan out a $3000 PC without any type of note saying it's just being lent out and not given as a gift.

Call your local PD via the regular number and as an officer which would be the best way to handle it. Depending on local laws, they may say swear out a warrant or small claims. BUT, if they go the warrant route, they may have to hold it (which is why you should ask before executing...) Or have any friends that are lawyers in your state?

Steal the computer back, replace the hard drive (to remove an claims of her documents) and deny that she ever even had it in the first place.

The stealings is the hard part. It may be easier to murder her and dissolve her corpse in lime.

I saw that on CSI, the lime thing, I think you get rid of the body in acid, or maybe start a forest fire and put here in it.
