Good question. I can't imagine Conan not in New York though.

I think this is a smart move on NBC's part. In doing so they will hold a very popular Host and in turn be on the lookout for a new Conan. Whatever that might be. Even though Conan will lose some of his spunk that he is known for moving into the earlier slot he will also be aging himself and so will the audience that is watching him now. As the time draws closer I expect Conan to start making his shift for the change. I think eventually Carson Daly will get Conan's timeslot 5 years from now if he is still doing his show and it'll be an hour instead of the 30 minutes he has now except on Friday. Or whoever is the hot ticket then.

I'm extremely happy for Conan and I'm sure most of his fanbase is also. He relates to so many people as the underdog and its nice to know his time for the spotlight is coming. He will do great even though it will be different. I can't even imagine how he reacted or what he'll say tomorrow in his monologue. He better mention it!

I'm worried about that too. Letterman's material tamed down drastically when he went to 11:30...he's no where near as funny as he used to be on his old show.

Just heard on the tv that since now Conan is the succesor to Jay that most likely CBS will turn to John Stewart as the succesor to Letterman. I love both Conan and Stewart and it would absolutely kill me to pick between the two since I'm sure both of their shows would be hilarious. If anything it looks that 5 years from now Late-Night tv should be looking good.

As far as I can remember it's always been like that. Monday's are always like the best of the best shows. I guess it gives them an extra day to figure out material. Funny even on Monday repeats, Conan always beat out Kilborn's live show.

my wife and i watched Leno last night when he announced it. Guess our Tonight show viewing will be over in 5 years. neither of us can stand Conan. His humor and personality just doesnt do anything for us.


on a side note: Leno showed a few clips from Johnny Carson. man the crap that happend on his show combined with his manurisims (sp) has to be some of the funniest stuff ever put on TV.

If that's true, then good for CBS. John Stewart has done a phenomenal job on the Daily Show, and his comedy tends to be more situational and political in nature which should fit the evening slot perfectly.
